Disney Announces Lemonade Mouth 2

Well… this didn’t take long. Lemonade Mouth was a pretty big hit, but a sequel already? They’re gonna kill any legit street cred the original ever had… Also, there’s talk of a Shake it Up movie now too. Not that that should come as a surprise.

Anyway, here’s the press release.

DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIES “LEMONADE MOUTH 2”
AND “SHAKE IT UP” IN DEVELOPMENT

Disney Channel announced at Licensing International Expo 2011 that Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) “Lemonade Mouth 2,” the sequel to the hugely popular movie, is currently in development, along with a DCOM based on the hit buddy comedy series “Shake It Up.”

The music-filled kid, tween and family movie “Lemonade Mouth” is a dynamic story in which music intersects with themes of communication, personal development and empowerment. Central to the core storyline are five teenagers who are profoundly changed when a music teacher motivates them to throw “what-ifs” out the window, pursue their true passion, form a band and, ultimately, seize the opportunity to express their unique selves โ€“ despite lack of support from the school administration. After premiering in April as the year-to-date’s No. 1 cable movie in Total Viewers and No. 1 television movie with Tweens 9-14, in its 16th telecast, โ€Lemonade Mouthโ€ is still going strong, again ranking No. 1 for the day among Kids 6-14 and Tweens 9-14.”

“Lemonade Mouth 2” will reunite fans with Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie, and feature all-new music.

The hit buddy comedy series set in the world of a tween dance show, “Shake It Up, Chicago!,” has generated development plans for a DCOM debut. The comedy series features two high-spirited characters, best friends CeCe Jones and Raquel “Rocky” Blue, whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they become background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, “Shake it Up, Chicago!,” a gig they land thanks to their longtime and well-connected friend, Deuce. Between learning a wide range of new dance styles, navigating the backstage antics at the show (especially with their rivals Tinka and Gunther) and their newfound social status at school, the girls experience new and fun adventures, some that test their friendship.

“Shake It Up” is TV’s No. 1 series with Kids 6-11 (1.8 million/7.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.6 million/6.7 rating), and through its first 17 original airings, is pacing as the No. 1 cable series of all time with Tweens 9-14, 2011 to date. [Source: NTI, 12/27/10-6/12/11, US ratings, based on trackage data with minimum 6 telecasts.]

Disney Channel has presented more than 80 movie titles in its DCOM franchise since 1997. From the first movie, “Under Wraps,” to 2007’s record-breaking “High School Musical 2” and “Camp Rock,” the DCOM franchise has connected with the millions and millions of kids and tweens who watch them every night. In the U.S., across all basic cable, DCOMs dominate the ratings, having produced basic cable’s
No. 1 original movie telecast among tweens for nine consecutive years and the No. 1 movie in Total Viewers for four consecutive years, an indication of strong co-viewing by kids, parents and families.

The highly anticipated DCOM “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension,” based on hit animated TV series “Phineas and Ferb,” is set to premiere FRIDAY, AUGUST 5 on Disney Channel, SATURDAY, AUGUST 13 on Disney XD and also on the ABC Television Network (date TBD).

  1. lol this might actually get me to watch Lemonade Mouth 1! ๐Ÿ˜› Although I’m encouraged to support my girl Bridgit now, so I probably will watch LM1 soon anyway.

  2. Luis,

You BETTER support Bridgit now that she’s your girl. ๐Ÿ˜› When you finally see the movie you’ll fall for Bridgit even more. Plus she bears her sexy legs in virtually every scene. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I thought “Lemonade Mouth” was awesome and I’ve been hearing for a number of weeks now they were in talks for LM2 so this isn’t any surprise to me. I watched LM1 for the 5th or 6th time last night and it gets better every time I see it. Bridgit really shines in this movie as does Hayley. The songs are great and very well recorded and produced. Even Adman Hicks gives a great performance and isn’t anywhere near as goofy as he is in “Zeke and Luther”. LM is a great movie and it totally deserves this sequel. ROCK ON LM FANS! ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I am really excited about this movie. My original thoughts before the movie premiered was that it would be some campy Disney musical that would focus too much on Bridgit so she would seem like the big star.

After watching it, I loved it. The acting was good and the music was the best in any Disney movie thus far. It is a well earned sequal
