Classic Disney Channel Schedule

I was going through some old books of mine when I found this printed Disney Channel schedule. This schedule was back when DC was a premium channel and I would guess is from around 1992 or so.

Old Disney Channel Schegule (Click to Enlarge) I can remember a few of these, like "Under the Umbrella Tree. " That was my favorite show back in the day.  And I was glad to see "Adventures in Wonderland" on there! I wasn't sure if it was a real show or just something I had imagined! I know a lot of you younger readers will have never heard of these shows, but finding this meant a lot to me, and I wanted to share it. :)

Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana Ratings

Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana was a ratings blockbuster scoring a 9.3 making it the highest rated cable program of the year, and besting everything else the channel has premiered since HSM2! I'd like to site two articles. The first is from Reuters.
Disney Channel's crossover special "Wizards on Deck With Hannah Montana" was the most-watched scripted telecast on cable so far this year. The 90-minute Friday night event, which featured episodes of "Hannah Montana," "The Suite Life on Deck" and "Wizards of Waverly Place," was seen by a massive 9.3 million viewers. It also marked TV's top scripted telecast this year among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. Disney Channel out delivered second-place CBS for the evening by than 4 million viewers. The program marked the best time-period numbers for Disney Channel since the 2007 premiere of "High School Musical 2." It also topped previous network crossover events, drawing 82% more viewers than 2007's "Cory in the House," "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and "Hannah Montana" mash-up, and 41% more than 2006's "That's So Raven," "Zack & Cody" and "Hannah Montana" combo.
And the second is from is from TV Guide.
Disney Channel's Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana Friday-night crossover event drew 9.3 million viewers, claiming a variety of ratings records. First and foremost, the 90-minute intermingling of the channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana established itself as cable's most-watched scripted program of the year to date, edging out Disney's own Princess Protection Program (which premiered last month). Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana's strong showing also gave Disney Channel the honor of being TV's most-watched network during its 90-minute run. Disney also notes that in head-to-head competition during the 8 o'clock hour, WoDwHM more than doubled the audience for the opening night of Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants 10th anniversary celebration. Compared to Disney's past multi-show mergers, Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana improved upon 2007's Cory in the House-Suite Life of Zack & Cody-Hannah mash-up by 82 percent, and bested 2006's That's So Raven-Suite Life-Hannah crossover by 41 percent.

New DC Show: Good Luck Charlie

What follows are two news articles about the next Disney channel Series "Good Luck Charlie" staring Bridgit Mendler. The first article is from The Hollywood Reporter.
Disney eyes another teen star Bridgit Mendler takes lead in new sitcom By Paul Bond July 14, 2009, 11:00 PM ET It's too early to compare her to Miley Cyrus or Vanessa Hudgens, but Disney Channel thinks it could have another star in the making and has given her the lead role in a new sitcom. The show is called "Good Luck Charlie" and the star is 16-year-old Bridgit Mendler. "We just fell in love with her," said Adam Bonnett, senior vp original programming at Disney Channel. "She has all the attributes of a Disney star." Disney Channel first cast Mendler on freshman comedy "Jonas," where she appeared in two episodes playing a love interest for Nick Jonas. That was followed by a four-episode stint on "Wizards of Waverly Place." In the upcoming arc, Mendler plays "an everyday girl with a sunny disposition who is a blood-sucking vampire," Bonnett said. In her first starring role on "Charlie," slated to debut next year on Disney Channels worldwide, Mendler plays Teddy Holliday alongside Disney Channel regular Jason Dolley, who plays her brother Casey. When their parents go back to work full time after having a baby, the care and feeding of their new sister -- nicknamed Charlie -- falls to the teenage siblings. A hook in the show has Teddy creating a video diary for Charlie that chronicles the day's adventures and offers her baby sister advice for when she grows older. Bonnett describes "Charlie" as "a family show from a kid's point of view." "It felt like the right time to have a show with two parents, to debunk the myth that Disney never has the mom in the picture," he said. "Because it is a myth." The parents on the show are played by "Will & Grace" veteran Leigh Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer. Also in the family is a 10-year-old son, played by newcomer Bradley Perry. From It's a Laugh Prods., "Charlie" was created and is executive produced by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen ("What I Like About You"). Also exec producing is "Cheers" veteran Dan Staley.
The second article is from Broadcasting & Cable.
Disney Channel Orders ‘Good Luck Charlie’ Live action multi-camera sitcom to premiere in 2010 By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 7/15/2009 3:08:24 PM EDT Disney Channel has ordered Good Luck Charlie, a multi-camera live action sitcom. Production on the new series will begin in August, with a premiere slated for 2010. Charlie follows two teenagers, Teddy and Casey, who, with the help of their 10 year-old brother Gabe, pitch in to take care of their new baby sister Charlotte (aka Charlie), while their parents are busy working full time. Each episode will feature a “video diary” from Teddy, chronicling his antics so that Charlie can use it for advice later on in her life. Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen (Suddenly Susan, What I Like About You) are the creators and executive producers, with Dan Staley (Cheers) also on board as EP. Bridgit Mendler (Wizards of Waverly Place) stars as Teddy, with Jason Dolley on board as Corey, Bradley Steven Perry as Gabe with Eric Allan Kramer and Leigh Allyn Baker as their parents.

DC Fans Forum Launches!

Check out the New DC Fans Forum!

I have been thinking about starting a forum on this site for quite some time, and finally decided to go for it. We've all had some really fun discussions on the blog using the comments sections, so I hope we can continue that here on the new forum. That way the comments sections can stay on topic, and we can all still talk about how cute Selena Gomez is. ;) Sorry, I'm getting distracted. I've started us off with five forum sections: Announcements, Disney Channel Shows, Disney Channel Stars, General Disney, and Off-Topicness. I these should be a good match for the topics I think will spring up here, but we'll make adjustments as necessary. If you have any thoughts on our format or layout please let me know! I'm very open to making changes if desired.

Get ready for Wizards vs. Vampires!

I'm really excited! Disney's actually letting one of their shows have a four episode arc. They've always been against this sort of plot building, instead preferring stand alone episodes because they tend to do better in reruns. So I'm very happy to see Wizards having this opportunity! What follows is the official Disney press release.
"Wizards of Waverly Place – Wizards vs. Vampires," a four-episode programming event, follows the Russo family and their encounters with the Van Heusens, a family of vampires who own a competing sandwich shop, beginning FRIDAY, JULY 24 (8:00- 8:45 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel. Guest Starring is Bridgit Mendler ("JONAS") as Justin's vampire girlfriend, Juliet Van Heusen, and Anne Ramsay ("Mad About You") and JD Cullum ("Good Night, and Good Luck") as vampire parents Cindy and Alucard Van Heusen. The schedule is as follows: FRIDAY, JULY 24 (8:00 – 8:45 p.m., ET/PT) • "Wizards vs. Vampires on Waverly Place" - Business at the Waverly Sub Station is slow after the opening of a new neighborhood sandwich shop owned by vampires. Jerry sends Justin to spy on the establishment, but Justin meets and ends up falling for Juliet, the daughter of the competing shop's vampire owners. FRIDAY, JULY 31 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m., ET/PT) • "Wizards vs. Vampires: Tasty Bites" - Justin's new vampire girlfriend, Juliet, gets the Russos to change their lifestyle by adding healthy foods and exercise. However Alex is concerned about Juliet's true intentions for Justin when she discovers that vampires like the taste of healthy blood. FRIDAY, AUGUST 7 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m., ET/PT) • "Wizards vs. Vampires: Dream Date" - After Dean moves away, Alex continues to date him by using magic to enter his dreams. When he pays her a surprise visit and the real date isn't as great as she had dreamt, she searches for a way to break up with him. Meanwhile, Justin tells his vampire girlfriend, Juliet, that he is not allowed to go on her family camping trip. FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m., ET/PT) • "Wizards & Vampires vs. Zombies" - Justin convinces Juliet that their prom date will be the most memorable ever. Meanwhile, Alex opts to plan a zombie themed anti-prom, but is unprepared for the real zombies that arrive for the ultimate prom dance off.

Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana

Disney has just posted a press release about the new "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" event - a tripple episode crossover of "Wizards of Waverly Place", "The Suite Life on Deck" and "Hannah Montana", much like the previous "That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana." Not only will the special event feature the lead characters of the three shows stumbling to each other, but also feature the secondary cast such as Jennifer Stone, Brenda Song, Jake T. Austin and more (unlike last time). It seems Disney is actually paying attention to the fans and learning from their mistakes The crossover event will premiere on July 17 for a 90-minute telecast at 8/7c. "Cast-Away (To Another Show)" is the first half hour. Justin is excited to meet London Tipton when he wins the essay contest prize, a cruise on the SS Tipton. Alex and Max get to go aboard too, where Alex bonds with new BFF Bailey, but soon gets in hot water when she uses magic to bring Harper aboard. Max and Zack compete in a series of outrageous challenges. In "Double-Crossed", Hannah Montana boards the SS Tipton on her way to a concert performance in Honolulu. To impress Bailey, Cody enlists Woody to help him get tickets. Meanwhile, the Russos use a little magic to spice up their vacation - Alex pulls a prank on Justin, for which Mr. Moseby blames Zack, while Max introduces London to a magical suitcase. The last segment is titled "Super(stitious) Girl". While on the ship deck, Miley loses the charm ankle bracelet that her mother gave her and, when things start to go wrong, she is sure it's because she lost her lucky charm. Cody tells Bailey that he has a close friendship with Hannah and promises great seats to her concert. DisneyChannel.com will conduct a scavenger hunt sweepstakes to coincide with the program. Participants will be required to tune in to Disney Channel every night from July 12 to July 17 at 8/7c and answer the questions correctly to win the grand prize (Miley Stewart's charm ankle bracelet, an SS Tipton life preserver signed by the stars and wands from "Wizards").
