Personally, this sounds like the stupidest DCOM plot ever. And yes, I didn't forget about Camp Rock.

My thoughts on Camp Rock

I wanted to watch the primere on Disney channel, but I ended up working late so I watched the rerun on ABC instead. So, Camp rock is supposed to be the "New High School Musical." the biggest difference I see is that HSM had a strong plot. Boy meets girl, they bond by singing, their friends and family don't support them, they persevere and the songs very much drive the plot, be it where Troy and Gab meet, the responce of the school (Status Que), call backs, etc. But camp rock is just the opposite. They needed a readon to sing, so they made a whole bunch of musical scenes and then put it at a music camp so they had some sort of reason for all the songs. And the songs, while decent, have nothing to do with anything. They could have been written for anything. This movie seems to enjoy making really stupid problems that are then resolved after the comersial. That may have to do with the fact that they had four writers, which would make long running developments harder. Overall, it's like the movie only exists to push several music videos. As a movie, it's a flop. As a method for promoting the JoBro's new single as Demi's new show, it does a decent job. Watch it once, then never again. My Play by Play Commets as I was watching the movie: 0:02 Demi playing with her hair and running around her room trying to pick out ourfits and such in a cool musical number. Cute. A decent start to the film. 0:03 OMG! Her mom is the Mom on Wizards of Waverly Place! LOL 0:04 Okay we get it, she wants to go but can't but she will somehow or there's no movie. 0:05 Shortest day of school ever. And now she's going. Wow, that was a lot of drama. 0:06 And now they're there. That was a waste of four minutes. 0:07 A limo parked on dirt? WTF? I'm guessing the rich blond girl is mean. 0:08 Alyson's character befriends Demi's character. It took 8 whole minutes. LOL 0:10 Boo. JoBros. 0:11 Demi and meat. Hot. LOL 0:12 Cabin vibe? No comment. 0:13 Free piano! Nevermind 0:14 And The "Who is that girl that's singing?" scene already? Wow, I expected a little chracter development first. Demi's not too bad, though. -Commercial- 0:21 How many times are they gonna say "Camp Rock" in this film? We know what we're watching, Disney. 0:22 Hi, here's a new girl. And now here's a show stopping mucical number. It's a decent song, but come on people, it's just like, dropped there. 0:24 Mitchie, Don't lie about your mom when she's AT THE CAMP. Idiot. 0:26 Mean girl with two idiot lackeys. Of course. Oh, and mean girl's mom isn't there for her? Big surprise. 0:27 Stop pretending to be from China. It makes me think of TAB. :( 0:28 So... mean girl is gonna steal the songs, right? -Commercial- 0:35 "You're dreaming" "Okay" So stupid... 0:37 Random Jam session? This movie is starting to remind me of Hilary duff's "Raise Your Voice." Demi just got picked. Yep totally "Raise Your Voice." 0:39 That was "Totally great"? Yeah... whatever. 0:41 Demi covered in flour. LOL I'm totally screencapping this movie and using that cap. -Commercial- 0:48 "Get my agent" scene. Yeah we get it, he's a bad boy. 0:50 Why does the music camp have a dance class? Looks like they needed to fill some time between "serious" scenes. 0:51 DRUMMERS DON'T NEED TO DANCE. 0:52 NO one cares about Jessica Simpson. Well... except Ashley Tisdale. LOL 0:53 Again, WE GET IT, he's a bad boy. 0:54 Sparklely. Mean blond girl isn't half bad. I just don't like the actual song ... bad memories. :P -Commercial- 1:02 Sorry does not make for a good gag. Demi's character finally meets the JoBro guy face to face. Finally. 1:03 LOL I like Alyson's character. - You call that a foodfight? We could do sooo much better. 1:04 Kitchen duty. Nice plot loop there. 1:05 Ew. JoBro Guy song. 1:07 Liar. That song sucked. 1:08 That chili container is like the size of two of those bowls. 1:09 Mitchie's busted, and covered in dirty water and chips. ROFLOL 1:10 "She got drowned in her lies" Nice line, Caitlyn. 1:11 Mitchie cleans up fast. 1:12 Mean girl is mean. Even to her friends. But even more to Caitlyn. 1:19 Rolling Stone cones? LOL I liked the themed food. :) And now Mitchie & Caitlyn are getting along again. Of course. Caitlyn was once friends with Tess? Of course. 1:20 Random sad music. - Agh! More JoBros! *hides* And silver rule, copper rule, tin rule. LOL. 1:22 If it's a rumor, that they're supposed to spread, why are they whispering it? 1:23 Shirtless Joe - I didn't need the visual. And stop flirting 1:25 So now Tess knows. Stalker. -Commercial- 1:30 Wait, Shane is the owner's nephew? I must have missed that. And where did the other Jobros come from? Talk about random song for no real reason. 1:35 The lie is found out. At least Mitchie has a friend. And wow, Tess is mean. She makes Sharpay look like an angel. -Commercial- 1:42 "You look Crushed, Pummeled, absolutely destroyed." I like that. :) 1:44 Tess did steal the song book. I knew it! And everyone fell silent when Mitchie entered the room. Saw that one coming. 1:45 Mitchie's hiding in the corner. LOL 1:46 "For once I just wanted o fit in and be popular"- Mitchie. I swaer I've heard that exact same line before. 1:47 Demi has a nice smile. Yes, let Tess have it! 1:48 ...That's it? Gab did a much better job standing up to Sharpay in HSM2. 1:50 His hands are tied unless they can prove they didn't take it? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? -Commercial- 1:56 They mobbed him to get to the list. That was kinda funny, I guess. Ew JoBros. 1:57 "Until the end of final Jam" So... they have to be the last act, right? 1:58 Tess finally pushed away her "friends / lackeys." Right before the contest, of course. 2:00 Is this gonna be a new trend, Disney Hip Hop? 2:01 The crowd has glo-sticks. LOL 2:02 "The It girls" LOL And Tess's mom came? Wow. I do like this song, though. 2:03 Tess's mom picked up the phone during her daughter's song? Wow. I can't blame Tess for practicly falling off the stage and crying. 2:05 Another song. WOW, she's good. Why did she follow Tess around all movie? 2:06 Seriously, this is a good song. I'm guessing the title is "Here I Am." 2:07 Tess apologized. Wow, maybe she's changed. But that would ruin the sequel. -Commercial- 2:14 Okay, Final Jam's over. So... now what? 2:15 Yeah, he meant that they go last. Okay then. 2:16 Shane finally got it. 2:17 and Shane just totally jumped into Mitchie's song. And okay, they did did a decent job with that spinning camera scene. 2:18 And the winner is that girl with the good song. Margret/Peggy whatever. 2:19 Tess comes clean. After they would have been disqualified. How nice. LOL 2:20 Finally! I was wondering when we would get to "We Rock." And Shane and  Mitchie just happen to move to the front of the "everyone" song. 2:21 I like Caitlyn's outfit. Very cattish. 2:23 And... that's how they end it? Wow.

Article: Meet The Fresh Faces Of ‘High School Musical: Senior Year’

Source: http://blogs.accesshollywood.com/archives/2008/06/meet-the-fresh-faces-of-high-s.html
Considering this latest incarnation of "High School Musical" has the added line of "Senior Year" to its title, I think we can all be pretty sure this is the last we will be seeing of Zac, Vanessa, Ashley, Lucas, Monique or Corbin in the halls of East High. Unless of course someone wants to make "College Musical." Instead, should this feature film version of "High School Musical" be a huge hit, I think Disney may keep its franchise alive by introducing us to a brand new class of kids. That's exactly why I think such a big deal has been made about the three new cast members making their debut in HSM3. Disney held an international casting search involving over 1,000 teen actors across the United States, Canada, and the U.K. to find three sophomore Wildcats. Matt Prokop, Justin Martin, and Jemma McKenzie-Brown were the lucky three plucked out of near obscurity. 17-year-old Matt's biggest role to date was a small part in "Hannah Montana". 14-year-old Justin played Simba in "The Lion King" on Broadway. British born Jemma had a role in a BBC show called "The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard.” After this film comes out October 24th, I have no doubt their names will become as familiar to pre-teen and teenage girls everywhere as the rest of the HSM cast. I traveled to the set and had a chance to sit down with the three newbie’s who seem to be fitting in with the group quite perfectly. Ashley Tisdale has taken Jemma under her wing. Vanessa Hudgens admits to whipping out her English accent around Jemma. Corbin Bleu has the gang over to his room almost every night to play video games. Everyone is giving the trio tips on how to stay grounded should fame strike. According to Matt their main advice was not let fame go to their heads, "Be yourself mainly. That's the one thing they said. With all of the success, just don't change. Just be who you are and true to yourself."

Matt, who before this role never sang or danced, plays Jimmie "The Rocket" Zara, a basketball player who idolizes Zac's character, Troy Bolton. He told me being famous is not why he took this part,

"I think we're all in it just to be an actor and just enjoy acting more than the fans and the fame. It's all about a career.” Justin is Jimmie's "partner in crime" as he calls it, Donny, who is the basketball teams ball boy. He's a small little guy with a huge personality who wants to be the next Will Smith or Denzel Washington. Justin's big personality landed him at the hospital though with a bad bruise while on set a few weeks ago, "I have no gymnastics or tumbling background and I decided I was going to do a back flip on some cement and it didn’t work out well." Jemma comes to East High as Tiara Gold; a British foreign exchange student who has her sights set on Sharpay and becomes her personal assistant. She told me that from the moment the news came out she was cast her life changed, "My friend wrote me and said just type in McKenzie-Brown in Google. I typed it in and flash, flash, flash. Matt Prokop, Justin Martin, Jemma McKenzie-Brown all over. It was crazy!" Those Google searches are only going to grow and grow when the film comes out on the big screen this fall!
I think it's crazy how just being announced as a star in an upcoming DCOM gets people so much attention. Just look at what's happened to Demi Lovato - And Camp Rock's still a week away!

Article: Miley’s Fragrance & Clothing Line

Miley Ray Cyrus Wants To Launch Own Fragrance & Clothing Line After Hannah Montana Ends In The 'Near Future'
Just a few months ago industry mogul Miley Ray Cyrus trademarked a ton of 'Miley' merchandise including, dolls, electronics, Christmas tree decorations, cookie jars, etc [Full listing here]. In addition to this, Miley hopes to launch her own fragrance an clothing line. She revealed to J-14: 'I would love to have my own clothing line because my style is different from a lot of people. I like starting trends, but I also like to be comfortable. I like to be casual but cute and stylish at the same time.' Miley wants her line to look similar to her favorite designer Marc Jacobs.. ..It's young and it is expensive and couture, but it's not totally unaffordable. It's more funky, and it looks like it just came of the runway, but it's still casual. Miley is already looking towards her new future. She plans on finishing the Hannah Montana series soon. 'We're doing the movie, and then one more season, maybe two. It's probably going to be one more season though.'
If Hannah ends after one more season, that would put it at roughly 70 episodes total. And while that's sightly better than the 65 episodes DC series used to be limited to, I think it should end up closer to 100, like That's So Raven did.

Article: Hannah Montana Ratings Drop

Source: http://savedisneyshows.org/news/index.php?article=215
Hollywood scandals work, but not for kid stars. A semi-nude Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) in Vanity Fair could be the cause of an additional slide in ratings for the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. According to the Nielsen Company, the brand new episode of Hannah Montana which aired after the photos were released saw a 14% decline in viewers when compared to the previous fresh episode. However, longterm figures suggest that Hannah Montana ratings were declining prior to the nude pics - numbers are down 26% compared with the first original show of the year, which aired in January. One issue is that once a show gets hot, programmers are stuck with a limited number of original episodes and must spread them over a long period. This means that as the time for new content increases, tweens fill their time with new shows. And this is exactly what has happened. Hannah Montana has now been replaced as Disney’s top-rated show by Wizards of Waverly Place, which stars Selena Gomez who has previously appeared on Hannah, reports the New York Daily News. The ratings decline has not effected merchandise or retail partners. Wal-Mart has created areas just for "Hannah" items and production has just began on the "Hannah Montana" feature film. "'Hannah Montana' kicked off as the highest-rated cable premiere series ever among kids and tweens, held the No. 1 rank across all TV, second only to 'American Idol' [in that age group] for two years, and is now a global hit," said Gary Marsh, president, entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide.
