Aly & AJ to Star in a New Show

… Well, Fox has committed to a pilot. With any luck the girls will finally be “able to make [their] dream show together.” I’m not sure it’s the best thing for them to be in a show together (I think we all know when Hellcats took a turn for the worse) but it seems like Aly would rather kill her own show than not have AJ in it, so maybe this way they can actually come up with something that works.

I also really wanted to post that awesome candid of Aly in LA. =] Here’s the original article about the new show:

Fox Buys Comedy Starring Aly Michalka & AJ Michalka Produced By Happy Madison

EXCLUSIVE: Acting/singing duo Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka may star together in a comedy series next. The two sisters topline a half-hour project, which has sold to Fox. It hails from writers Matt Dearborn and Adam Goldberg, Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV.

On the untitled single-camera comedy, which has received a script commitment, Aly and AJ Michalka will play versions of themselves. Finally out of the house and into their first apartment, Aly and AJ’s exciting new lives are interrupted when their mother unexpectedly moves in with them. Breaking In co-creator Goldberg and Zeke and Luther co-creator Dearborn will write the script and executive produce with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson. Aly and AJ Michalka will serve as co-producers.

The two sisters first hit stardom as pop rock duo Aly & AJ (now 78violet). They made their acting debut as the stars of the Disney original movie Cow Belles, which was co-written by Dearborn. The two also co-starred together in MTV’s Super Sweet 16: The Movie. Additionally, AJ recurred on the CW drama Hellcats which starred Aly. The Fox comedy project extends Aly’s relationship with Happy Madison — she just wrapped the company’s Grown Ups movie sequel for Sony Pictures. AJ recently wrapped the indie feature Jesus In Cowboy Boots. Aly and AJ Michalka are repped by CAA and just signed with Principato-Young Entertainment.

The new project reunites WME-repped Goldberg with Fox where he and Seth Gordon created comedy series Breaking In, also produced by Sony TV and Happy Madison, on which Dearborn served as a consulting producer. The network also bought a period comedy pitch from Goldberg, Happy Madison and Sony TV last year.

  1. sounds like an excuse to promote their music – they’ll probably sing on it and sell the songs individually like they did with Hellcats.

I wonder if anyone would be interested in them if they weren’t hot blondes with bodies worth banging. Sure, they can sing, but in all the shows and movies they’ve had together and individually, I’ve never seen anything that would convince me they can act too.

Still, throw in a few gratuitous bikini scenes and it’ll easy be my fave new show…

  2. The only Disney girl that made it big (on film) was Britney, and to a certain extent, Lindsay.

Disney boys that made it big include Shia LaBeouf and Justin Timberlake.

Of course, this doesn’t include other Disney kids that kept going like Jodie Foster, Hayley Mills and Ken Russell.

still, I’m glad Aly & AJ have a chance to be seen on TV again – I’m hoping for some free-flowing cleavage, lots of leggy goodness and maybe a bikini scene or two.

  3. I don’t believe there is a record deal in the works – they might have been working on music, but I think they just wanted something to tell their fans to keep them interested – if they weren’t hotties, I wouldn’t care in the slightest for them.

  4. Exactly my feeling, LOUIE.

They had *so* much potential with their music. Instead, the girls go into acting and make B-rated movies. I had enough when watching, “The Roomate”. Aly’s character was basically a slut.

I am also disappointed in them because they kept saying year after year that the new album is in the works. Instead, they lose their record deal with Hollywood Records and they can’t even use the Aly & AJ name anymore.

They are hotties… Yes. But the talent behind the hotness to going to waste.

They better shed more clothes, if they want more acting opportunities.
