Shake it Up: Made In Japan Premieres this Month!

I hope this special lives up to the hype. 🙂 Shake it Up: Made In Japan premieres on Friday August 17th.

Rocky and CeCe win a trip to Japan to be part of a dance video game production and the world famous Blue Man Group performs in a madcap “Shake It Up” event that’s infused with Tokyo teen fashion and “J-Pop” music. “Shake It Up: Made In Japan” premieres FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 (8:00-9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. “Shake It Up” is the #1 live-action TV series among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11.

Zendaya and Bella Thorne perform three new original songs in the storyline: “Made In Japan,” “The Same Heart” and “Fashion is My Kryptonite.” The latter song will premiere on Radio Disney during a “Take Over” with Bella Thorne and Zendaya on FRIDAY, JULY 20 (6:00 p.m., ET/3:00 p.m., PT). Their music video for the song, guest starring Cat Deeley, will premiere on Disney Channel in August.

Beginning FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, DisneyChannel.com/ShakeItUp will launch new music activities, games and quizzes inspired by “Shake It Up: Made In Japan,” including a quiz that will determine the Japanese-influenced fashions of a Rocky or CeCe-inspired avatar. Upon printing their avatar, viewers can learn how to assemble their own origami. Also on FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, DisneyChannel.com/ShakeItUp will host an exclusive seven minute sneak peek of “Shake It Up: Made In Japan.”

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10
“Shake It Up: Made in Japan” exclusive preview available via Disney Channel On Demand, a video-on-demand service available to a variety of affiliates including AT&T U-Verse, Cablevision and Time Warner Cable.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 17
“Shake It Up: Made in Japan” premiere on Disney Channel with a simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel. The special event will also be available on demand in WATCH Disney Channel immediately following the linear broadcast.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18
“Shake It Up: Made in Japan” will be available on iTunes, Microsoft Xbox and Sony Playstation, as well as on Mobile VOD platforms which include AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

Starring are: Bella Thorne and Zendaya as CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, Davis Cleveland as Flynn Jones, Roshon Fegan as Ty Blue, Adam Irigoyen as Deuce Martinez, Kenton Duty as Gunther Hessenheffer and Caroline Sunshine as Tinka Hessenheffer. Keone Young, Anita Barone, R. Brandon Johnson and Buddy Handleson guest star.

“Shake It Up” is executive produced by Rob Lotterstein (“The War at Home,” “Ellen”) and Eileen Conn (“Mad About You,” “Just Shoot Me!”). The series is a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc. and carries a TV-G parental guideline.

Also, Bella and Zendaya’s new “Fashion Is My Kryptonite” Music Video premieres tonight (August 2nd).

Disney Channel will present the world premiere of the music video, “Fashion Is My Kryptonite,” performed by “Shake It Up” stars Zendaya and Bella Thorne, FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, during the “Toy Story 3” premiere (8:00 p.m. ET/PT). Two-time Emmy-nominated host of “So You Think You Can Dance” Cat Deeley guest stars in the video as a fashion fairy Godmother. The song will be featured in the upcoming special event, “Shake It Up: Made in Japan,” airing FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 (8:00-9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and is currently in rotation on Radio Disney.

In the music video, Bella and Zendaya travel through a secret closet door into a fantastical fashion wonderland filled with high style and runways. The song was written by Ben Charles and the music video was directed by Marc Klasfeld (Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night,” China Anne McClain’s “Calling All The Monsters”).

To shake things up, beginning Tuesday, July 31, animated GIFs produced by Disney Music Group, featuring Bella Thorne and Zendaya in the “Fashion Is My Kryptonite” music video, will be available for download at www.shakeitupsoundtrack.com. “Fashion Is My Kryptonite” will be included on the upcoming Walt Disney Records’ Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance Deluxe CD, available exclusively at Walmart and Sam’s Club on August 14. The digital EP will be available on August 21.
