The red dress is a good look for her.
And the boots aren’t bad either. 😉

Her tone and pitch were okay but her phrasing was totally strange and that was the deal breaker for me.

Pure talent. Just her and a guitar – you never see other Disney singers do this, not even Selena or Emily.
Disney’s screwed up royally for always keeping her in the background – she should have her own show, movies AND several albums out by now, but no. Plus she’s a good person – you’d never hear about her involved in some idiot scandal.

Selena has sung this track acoustic and did an amazing job with it too. If memory serves Greg posted the video just a week or two ago.
I agree that Alyson is very talented and probably should have had her own show or at least a role as a series regular. The issue is that DC only has so much room in the schedule for new shows and there were other actresses that may have been a better fit the roles even though Alyson may have been more talented than they are.
Alyson’s early singing efforts were not very good. She GOT good and probably worked extremely hard to get there. Selena’s first musical efforts weren’t very good either. Both girls had the “raw” talent and worked VERY hard to develop and polish it. Both were successful. Although DC may have passed on Alyson I am hopeful that her talents will be recognized by other studios and with any luck we’ll be seeing a lot more of her. She’s a very nice girl and has a good attitude. 🙂
@Arwin – not a good comparison – she sung it on stage and even then, it wasn’t just her and a guitar.
The issue with DC is that they only see money, not talent. I can’t blame them, but they don’t things based on talent anymore. I think they passed over Alyson because she doesn’t have looks (even though she’s beautiful in a different way) or the drawing power, otherwise they would’ve given her the part/show they gave to Miley instead.
Also, the main reason Disney worked on Selena so much is that they need a draw for Latinos/Hispanics. She did have talent to begin with, but at the time they needed a Hispanic name to sell, and “Gomez” fit the bill.

With all due respect I can’t get on board with your theory. DC has had (and currently has) shows with stars who aren’t all that physically attractive. Raven and China Anne come to mind and for the record this has nothing to do with the fact they are both African American. There are African American women who I find extremely attractive but not these two.
Also, look at the chick who plays “Ally’s” friend in “Austin and Ally”. She’s F-A-T and homely yet she was cast as a series regular.
I agree that Alyson is not a beauty queen but she is FAR from homely. She’s cute in her own way although I really don’t like her legs and as you probably know I’m a total “leg man”. 😛 I think it’s simply that they didn’t have a part for her that was a good fit.

So yeah… Alyson was okay with this song. It would have been nice if she had her own series but oh well.
Alyson is a good singer but she definitely has her own style and outs her own spin on songs. I don’t feel this suited her at all. Ironically, it sounded more like a Mexican party song with her singing it than it does with Selena…not that it’s supposed to.
I always though Alyson was really pretty and talented and funny. She’s also really sweet from what i can tell.
