News on Demi Lovato (Part 1)

I didn’t want to say anything about Demi until we had actual news from a credible source.

The “emotional and physical issues” refrenced below could be anything but I would imagine the rumored Joe/Ashley drama contributed in some manner. I’ve also heard that it wasn’t drugs, although I can’t confirm that.

Demi Lovato

The following article is from MTV News

Demi Lovato has entered a treatment center, the singer’s rep confirmed to MTV News on Monday (November 1). The singer/actress has left her current tour with the Jonas Brothers to seek treatment.

“Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” her rep said in a statement. “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.”

Lovato is currently in South America on the “Camp Rock” Tour with the JoBros. “[Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future,” the statement continued.

According to TMZ, Lovato recently got into a physical altercation with a female on tour with her; that report was not confirmed by Lovato’s rep.

On Saturday, the JoBros announced that they couldn’t have a Web chat with their fans, tweeting, “Due to tour production issues that require our attention, we won’t be able to do the webchat on Cambio today. We can’t wait to talk to all our fans again. We love you. ” It is unclear whether the “tour production issues” were related to Lovato’s exit.

Lovato also unexpectedly shut down her Twitter page over the weekend. Soon after, the hashtag #demicomeback was a Twitter trend, according to CNN.

  1. As everyone on the forums knows, I’m a big Demi fan.

I’ll just pretty much repeat what I’ve said on many sites and in a few emails.

I love Demi and hope she gets whatever treatment she needs, she’s an awesome musician and actress, and from what little I can know as a fan whose never met her, seems to be an awesome person as well.

I wish I could give her an “It’ll all be okay” hug.

I think if anyone can go through this stuff and come out the other side stronger and better, it’s her, and I hope she does.

    God bless you Demi.

  2. pray for her to get well.
i just hope she doesnt go back to cutting again.
anyone that makes any mean uncalled for comments needs to keep it to theirselves pls. ty.

  3. According to CNN Demi checked into rehab for an eating disorder and self-mutiliation. In other words, she’s a cutter. It’s difficult for me to picture Demi having either of these issues. One thing I must point out and I’m sorry if I offend any Demi fans out there but this ISN’T good. If she really does have an eating disorder this is REALLY bad news because lets face it – Demi does not have an Ashley Tisdale type body. So this means if she is starving herself and she looks the way she does now then she’ll probably “pork out” quite a bit when she learns to eat correctly again. I’m sorry about this and please don’t be angry with me for pointing this out – I’m just stating the facts. If we go back a number a years this same kind of thing happened to Raven although she never had a disorder – the girl just liked to eat – LOL! Now as far as Demi being a cutter that is a total shock to me although this kind of thing can go hand in hand with having an eating disorder because both of these issues are about control. I wish nothing but the best for Demi and hope that the treatment is successful. Demi has never done it for me in the looks department but she’s an AWESOME actress and vocalist. I wish her a speedy recovery. 🙂

  4. Of the whole DC stable, this young lady is quite possibly the most talented. When you consider the stressors she’s dealt with during the past 12 months, I find it all the more mature of her that she is seeking help for what’s troubling her now than to push herself further and risk a public meltdown as have some of our other stars.

Even though the self-admittance may not have been her choice, it is the right choice. I have had more than one friend hurt themselves because they felt that the self-inflicted pain was something they could control versus the emotional pain brought on by others which was out of their control.

Not sure what the average age is of your readers, Greg, but one message I would like to send out there is to those of you who are being bullied: talk to someone about it. It is so hurtful what people do, but it won’t hurt forever. To those of you who find yourself bullying, remember that your words can sometimes hurt far worse and far deeper than any knife.

I’ll keep Demi and her family in my thoughts. I know she’ll make it through this and be stronger because of it.

  5. I’m thinking the eating issue may actually be more recent.

She got a lot of (IMO, Idiots) calling her fat after the bikini pics came out, and I think it was right after that she started tweeting alot about working out.

Assuming she was healthy around the time of the bikini pics, I think she’d be fine.

She’s never really been big, or even what I’d call chubby.
She’s not a stick figure, which I always viewed as a good thing.

But whether or not she’ll get bigger or not is so far down the concern list that it’s microscopic really.

I just hope she can be happy and healthy, whether she’s a star or whether she’s a size whatever doesn’t matter.

  6. i hope selena goes to see her or caLL her
as big a star as she is she needed this break anyway.
too much touring promoting etc also takes its toll on a person.
pls dont say anything negitive bout her ok.
    im a huge fan too.

  7. Well, if nothing else her and Taylor Swift may become friends again, considering from what I understand, they’ve now both got reason to dislike Joe.

    Demtaylena?
    Demlenatay?

Anyway, as always, just hope whatever is best for Demi happens.

  8. Touring, filming, personal appearances, red carpet events, etc. etc. The endless demands and stress on these girls has to be overwhelming at times. My 1 and only hope is for Demi to get the help she needs. Best wishes Demi, we luv ya!

  9. People say they have stress but honestly they have a good life compared to some people, including me. Don’t wanna go into details or anything but I would give up my life for that life anyday…. Even with all that stress.

  10. @Lil_Me.

Speaking from my experience, everyone thinks they have it pretty rough, and you really never know what kind of stress another person is under unless you can walk the proverbial mile in their shoes.

I’m not trying to say Demi’s ‘suffering’ is worse than anyones, because I don’t know what problems have happened in your life any more than you know what’s happened in mine.

But the thing is they were obviously big problems and stresses to her.
Fortunately she was wise enough to realize this and seek help for it.

Are there folks who’ve had to endure far worse than her? Oh absolutely.

But how about we support her, and on a broader level, all those who have problems and seek help for them, instead of going “Eh, I’ve been through worse.” or “I’d switch places”.

  11. Your right no one never knows what it’s like but I’d would still trade it anyday. And I hope she gets better, just saying that there are people who take more stress and don’t do stupid stuff like cut. Whatever though, like I said hope she gets better.

  12. Of course there others who deal with things that are, to any outside observer, worse and deal with things in non-self harming ways.

Of course there are also people who have had to deal with way less than what Demi has had to deal with and done things that are far far worse, not just for themselves but others as well.

I admit, I’m a big Demi fan and I’m about as biased as can be, but even in other situations I just tend to oppose the whole “OH, they’ve got it easy next to me.”

Lord knows I dealt with my share of crap, and I’ve heard a LOT of people talk about how bad they had it and thought it sounded easy compared to my childhood.

I know when I was younger,I went to some pretty dark places as well.
I never did self-hurt…but the thought was there sometimes.

Now, years later, I look back at that and I have a different perspective.
While my childhood wasn’t happiness and rainbows, I know others who had to deal with things MUCH worse, and that on the grand scale of human suffering, what I endured was MAYBE at worst a 3 on a 10 point scale.

But none of that mattered when I was younger and in those darker places, I didn’t have that perspective.

So I oppose playing the “I had it worse” card.
When you’re in that place, you’re in that place, no matter how “mild” you’re suffering may be to someone else.

So I just hope she gets the help she needs so she can come out the other side happier and healthier.
