And I have to say, I absolutely love this album. But let me take it one song at a time.

1. Round & Round – A truly phenomenal song that had a phenomenal music video. A more mature sound than her first album and a great way to begin this album. 5/5

2. A Year Without Rain – My favorite of her new songs. A very emotional an relateable song that’s still very poppy and catchy. Absolutely amazing to hear live as well. 🙂 6/5

3. Rock God – Rock Mafia has a very good track record and I’m glad Selena got a chance to work with them. This is an unusual song, but it’s incredibly catchy and dancy. 4/5

4. Off the Chain – I LOVE this song. I totally lose it when she whispers “I want you” at the beginning. The chorus is magnificent, and I love how smooth her voice is. It’s intoxicating, and also amazing to hear live. 5/5

5. Summer’s Not Hot – A peppy song but this one kinda fell flat with me. I like the little bit of Spanish and the line about “wearing a bikini” but it could have been better. 3/5

6. Intuition – This song struck me as a “generic teen pop” song. I like it because I like generic teen pop songs, but again it could have been better 3/5

7. Spotlight – I like the chorus a lot. And it’s a good “beauty is on the inside” girl power song, but as a guy that doesn’t speak to me as much. 4/5

8. Ghost Of You – The ballad of the album, and what a ballad it is. Very deep and very touching. I particularly like the lyric: “livin’ life crazy loud; like i have the right to.” Not a song I’d listen to on repeat, but exceptional all the same. 5/5

9. Sick of You – I guess Aly & AJ where right, you have to have at least one breakup song on an album. “I’ll wave good bye when you say hello.” A really good beat and quite catchy. 4/5

10. Live Like There’s No Tomorrow – We’ve heard this one before (thank you “Ramona and Beezus“) and it’s a lovely song, but a bit too fluffy for my tastes. 3/5

  1. I agree that “A year without rain” is the best song here 6\5 (specially the Spanish one, or maybe she just sounds sexy speaking in Spanish)

    “Summer’s not hot” and “Intuition” is my next favorite songs. Long after listening to these songs I find myself humming it. I’d have to give it a 5/5 each.

    “Sick of you” & “Off the chain” are my next faves. Yes I know “Sick of you” is a girl song, but what can I say, she sang it well. I’d have to give both songs a 4/5

    “Live like there’s no tomorrow” worked well with me, maybe because that’s how I want to live life. With no regrets. I’d have to give it a 4/5 too.

    A lot of people will disagree with this but I really didn’t like “Round & round” & “Rock God” that much. Could be because I always thought God was more of a classical song type of God. I give these 3/5 & 2/5 respectively.

    “Spotlight” 2/5 & “Ghost of you” 3/5 are okay, but forgettable when your done listening to it. In my opinion its better to be bad and remembered then good and forgotten.

    And that gives the album an overall score of 3.9/5

    With that said, everyone is in titled to there own opinion.

  2. I liked all your grading expect for intution and Rock god I’d have to give both a 5/5 and year without rain a 5/5 as well… i just think that they both are really good

    i like to listen to Sick Of You, Intuition, Off The Chain, Spotlight, and Summer’s Not Hot the most, but not in that order, i CAN’T pick an order. D= (didn’t include A Year Without Rain because i usualy like to watch the music video for that instead of just listening to it 😛 )

  4. oh and i dont really think about the lyrics when im rating songs, i just rate how much i liked the song itself, not its meaning. =)

  6. what can i say? i really like Selena and i think her voice has really improved. 🙂 but i still really love Stop and Erase, I Promise You, and Naturally from Kiss & Tell. =D

  7. after listening to Rock God again, 2/5 seems a little mean. there were some better parts, so im changing it to a 3/5. (which means my overall is now 5.2/5)

    and did u see Girl Meets World Extended Edition? i loved that part of the special features!! =) (i havent seen Girl On Film yet)
