Selena Gomez Monte Carlo Mall Tour in Santa Monica

Yesterday I spent four and half hours in the sun (and I have the sunburn to prove it!) waiting to see Selena Gomez at the first stop of her rescheduled Monte Carlo Mall Tour.

I haven’t commented here on Selena’s health scare over the weekend and her subsequent trip to the hospital, but I’ve been worried about her.

Selena herself said no less than three times that she’s felling much better now. She missed a few notes in “Who Says” and I think it was because she had to catch her breath.

Anyway, I’m incredibly thankful I got to actually see her with my own eyes because I know now that she’ll be just fine.

That said, OMG was she looking HOT! I mean, yes, I’ve seen her preform before. I’ve met her before, but wow I’ve never been that close to her bare legs. πŸ˜‰

I could even see the nail polish on her fingers and toes. That’s like, mega HD. πŸ˜‰

And speaking of camera’s it was a media circus! Camera’s everywhere. Here’s a shot of MTV news filming, there’s more in the gallery too.

MTV News also had a nice writeup about the event:

Selena Gomez was back onstage and appeared to be in much better health on Monday (June 13). The Disney star spent the weekend recovering after being hospitalized last Thursday in Los Angeles for a combination of food poisoning and exhaustion.

The 18-year-old singer/actress took the stage for a performance at the Santa Monica Place mall Monday afternoon, wearing a flowing, white blouse over a white tank top, black shorts, and black strappy heels. Gomez and her band, the Scene, played two of her hit songs, “Who Says” and “A Year Without Rain,” to cheers from the crowd. Gomez thanked her fans profusely for coming out to see her and for their support, especially in the last few days. She also apologized for missing her original appearance, which had been scheduled for this past Friday.

“I want to thank you so much for coming. If you guys came on Friday, I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be here,” she said before the band struck up the first few notes of “Who Says.” “I love you guys very much.”

Although Gomez didn’t do any crazy dance moves or flips, she performed each song with plenty of energy. Her voice sounded strong and steady. At the end of the second song, the teen star answered a few questions from fans in the audience, mostly pegged to her experience filming the upcoming movie “Monte Carlo,” around which the event was organized.

Gomez did take a brief moment to assure her fans (and the throng of reporters also gathered) that she’s feeling just fine. “I’m feeling much better, thank you,” she said.

After performing “Who Says” Selena addressed the crowd asking us if we wanted another song…
Selena: “What other song should I sing?”
Crowd (chants): “Naturally! Naturally! Naturally!”
Selena: “Um… How about A Year without Rain?”
Crowd (collectively): “Okay.”

There was no meet and greet I’m afraid, but that was okay. I already met her… twice. πŸ˜€

  1. Judging from the first video you posted, you were a couple of people to the right of me, although it looks like we were in the same row. I was very displeased at how late she was, and by the time she arrived my legs felt like they were about to collapse at how tired I was of standing there. πŸ™

  2. Hey Louis, OMG you made it too? I wish I would have known so I could have said hi. I was third row when I got there, I ended up more like 5th after that one crazy mom pushed all the little kids up to the front.

Then there was another mom who waited until just before she came out to complain that I should move. And I was just like “Um, no.” I mean, did the bitch not see me standing there for the past four hours? But she chooses to complain just then? Ugh. I hate moms. LOL

  3. I also went to the event yesterday. I went straight after i took my final. I got there at 1:30 and saw that there were a lot of people already. I was on the right of the stage. like 5th row. I wasn’t able to see well because there were two tall guys standing in front of me and then some guy with his huge camera was pushing himself through the crowd and stood right in front of me. Other than that, I enjoyed her performances and her Q&A. She looked gorgeous and you wouldn’t have thought that she was ever sick. My arms and legs do hurt though for standing so long there and putting my arms up trying to take videos and pictures. I was kinda dissapointed that she only did 2 songs since it said in the event information that she would do 3 but oh well. I still had fun. Thanks for the videos and pictures.

  4. Webmaster Greg,

    When you said . . .

“I’ve met her before, but wow I’ve never been that close to her bare legs”

I thought that was an AWESOME comment! πŸ˜› You know I’m a “leg man” myself. πŸ˜‰ In fact before I even read your comments I was just looking at the pics and the first thing that popped into my head was OMG, Selly is rockin’ the Daisy Dukes so Greg must be in heaven. πŸ˜€

I’m glad you know your girl is feeling better. Now if only she could get over that bad case of Beiber fever. πŸ™

  5. Yeah same story for me. I got there at around 11 am and was in the third row or so (hard to tell because people weren’t in perfect formation) but somehow I ended up in the fifth row in between two guys that had their daughters on their shoulders and would have been blocking my view entirely if I didn’t force myself in between them. I was annoyed that they said the thing was supposed to start at 2 but she didn’t arrive until 330. I guess it wouldn’t have mattered though, since I would have been there several hours earlier regardless.

  6. Dang it! You left coast people have all the fun. It’s hard being a DC fan here on the right coast. πŸ™

  7. Greg! In you are the guy almost exactly in the middle of the frame, wearing a blue shirt, glasses, and holding a camera, right? About three or four rows from the front? I’m about three or four people to your left in that photo, to the right of the pink girl on some guy’s shoulders. You can’t see my face, but there’s some perspective as to how far away we were from each other. lol

Not sure if my coding worked, so here’s the link: http://justjaredjr.buzznet.com/photo-gallery/421847/selena-gomez-santa-monica-place-03/fullsize/

  8. Carina, awesome. I know what you mean… it was torture standing out there for so long.

Arwin, I’m actually not that much of a “leg man” but when it comes to Selena, well, I love every inch of her. πŸ˜€ BTW, she’s gonna be in PA on Monday. A friend of mine from Jersey is going to see her.

Luis, OMG! That’s pretty crazy. I guess you didn’t recognize me? I’ve posted a bunch of pics on here before.

pwfan, yeah that’s what’s really important. She looked good. I was so relieved you can’t even imagine.

  9. I really wasn’t looking for you. πŸ˜› It did cross my mind that you probably were there too, but I was just worried about not losing my spot, and I was wondering if I would be able to suppress my hunger until after the performance, and I was trying to make my aching legs hurt less, not to mention the fact that there were just too many people there for me to think that we would happen to cross paths and I would recognize you. Maybe next time I get off my ass and go see someone we shall cross paths. πŸ˜‰

  10. Greg, I have to tell you this: you’re the best blogger ever! (I hope that you’re OK with the term “blogger”); I have to say, I’ve been a dcfans addict since, let’s say, January 2010, but I’ve never posted a comment; that time I arrived here looking for Demi Lovato pics (the glorious 2010 People Choice Awards set); I was obsessed with Demi, and in second place I loved Miley, but now, thanks to you, I’m a die-hard for Selena, she’s like the only woman in the world to my eyes as of now. You’re to blame if you create your own competitors! BTW, your comments just crack me up.

  11. I’m willing to bet my house on Selena being “Up the duff” as we say here in the UK. She’ll probably have had a sneaky abortion because a baby at 17 is not good for her image.

Her silly case of Bieber Fever just got real for her. Hopefully she will snap out of it sooner or later.

  12. Greg,

Where in PA is Selly going to be? Is it at King of Prussia Mall by any chance? That’s the biggest mall here on the east coast. If so I may try and go although Mondays are difficult for me to get away. If I do go I’ll tell her that you said hello. πŸ˜›

    Dev,

I’ve heard some of those rumors flying around too but I don’t think Sel got knocked up. There was some speculation about this on Perez Hilton’s website but it was ONLY speculation and he probably should have been more clear about that. ;(

    Juan,

I’m glad Greg got you into Selena instead of Debby. I hope all you guys realize that Debby is all mine. πŸ˜‰

  13. Luis, it’s fine I get it. It would have been nice to say hi since we were so close but whatever.

Juan, thank you! I’m glad you like my unique writing style. It’s kind of a love it or hate it sort of thing.

Arwin, I hope you can make it to the PA event! πŸ™‚

  14. I would be surprised, not shocked, if that were the reason that she went to the hospital. I refuse to be shocked if Selly and jb really were fooling around, its young Hollywood.

Greg, I also really enjoy your writing style and ability.

Selly looks really good in Daisy Dukes btw.

  15. Greg, pwfan, Luis,

Great news guys, I’m going on Monday to check out Selly. πŸ™‚ The bads news is that she won’t be performing, it’s only a one hour Q&A and nothing else. There’s not even going to be a meet & greet. πŸ™ That’s not going to stop me from going, in fact I’m heading out right now to the art supply store. I’m going to make a giant “DUMP BEIBER” sign to display in the crowd. πŸ˜›

  16. Out of respect for Selena I decided against bringing a “DUMP BEIBER” sign. I did go the event and I was one of the lucky ones because I actually did get to see Selena. Unfortunately, many fans got shut out and couldn’t get anywhere near the stage. I wasn’t as close as I would have liked to be but at least I did get to see her. I posted my story in great detail and with photos on the new Debby Ryan forum. Check it out here:
