Selena posted a sneak peak of her new album cover for her third album When the Sun Goes Down which comes out June 28. I can’t wait! =]
She looks, well, different. I think she’s trying for a more romantic, sensual, old-Hollywood style look. And don’t get me wrong, she’s always pretty, but its not what I expected. Speaking of unexpected…

I agree Selena is always beautiful but what a stupid looking album cover. Horrible pose. Looks like one of those glammor shots things in the mall.

I’ll definitely be supporting your girl Selly’s musical efforts. I think even you would even have to agree with me that Sel will never be a Grammy contender but I think she’s earned the award for most improved vocalist out of any DC starlet – ever! When they paired her with “The Scene” it was like someone threw a switch because of the sudden her vocals improved dramatically. In fact, just this morning I was out crusin’ around and I had Radio Disney on. For the first time – at least that I’ve ever heard – they played the FULL VERSION of new (season 4) WWP theme song. I have to tell you that some of the runs Selly was doing on the last two choruses were pretty impressive. You don’t get to hear any of that by watching the show because they edited the heck out of it to fit the opening sequence and it’s a shame because she really did an excellent job. š

I personally like this picture. It’s very stylish, and reminds me of Lady Gaga. More importantly, I LOVE that GIF. Selena makes me melt I swear.

honestly, I am disappoint. I was actually hoping for something different than the last two coversā¦ but it got worse instead. I was hoping for one of two thingsā¦ either to have a cover that FINALLY featured the whole bloody band, like it should be. Or my other hope would have been for a cover that didnāt have Selena on it at all. Often times bands will have CD covers that are simply about the artwork rather than the band members or lead singerā¦
Now, i know it wasnāt likely that the cover would actually be like that, and i would have been just fine with another cover in the same line as the first twoā¦ but instead, they again put only Selena on the cover, in possibly the most vain cover shot they could come up withā¦ I mean come on, the first single was Who Says! A song about being true to yourself! WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT. Theyāve got Selena so covered in makeup, feathers, and jewels that sheās not even Selena anymoreā¦
And what the heck does a black bob wig, enough feathers to clothe a peacock, more jewels than a thief could carry, and so much purple that they could genetically engineer purple smurfsā¦ HAVE TO DO WITH THE CONTENTS OF THIS ALBUM!? I mean, at least with Kiss & Tell they focused on her lips and it made senseā¦ but this has literally no relation back to the concept of āwhen the sun goes downā.
Iām sorry, i know i sound horribleā¦ but this album cover is so vain, that it canāt see past itās own ego and ends up in a train wreckā¦ Itās my opinion that an album cover should reflect something about the album or something about the artist behind the albumā¦ this so truly NOT who Selena is. I suspect this is yet another side effect of heavy handed Hollywood Records. Not impressed.

i couldnt tell y i didnt like this cover art (other than that its terrible) until i read Silentwaiting’s comment. it pretty much explains everything, and i totally agree with it.
After reading Siletwaiting’s comment I kinda agree. Look Selena is gonna look good no matter what but to release Who Says as the single and to have this as the album cover is very confusing.

Having Selena in front of a sunset would have made a lot more sense. This is like a 1940’s club and it related to absolutely nothing about the album. I seriously think this will hurt sales as it wont draw people in, they’ll just be like WTF?
Eh, albums very rarely have good cover art. I’m used to it by now.
