Take a look at Selena’s birthday cake!

My goodness, like she needs a reminder of what she’s done in her life. Or what her face looks like. LOL

But I like how Selena had a low key celebration with her family and friends.

And the band too, it looks like.

Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie wins an Emmy!

Posted on: Saturday, August 21st, 2010 in: Jennifer Stone, Selena Gomez, Wizards of Waverly Place

Wizards wins another Emmy, this time for the movie.

Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie wins an Emmy!

The WOWP movie was up against the WOWP series, iCarly, Hannah Montana and JONAS. Some may remember that I was quite puzzled by this nomination. I mean, yes, two nominations are a good thing – but in the same category? I thought it would for sure split the Wizards vote and hand the Emmy to iCarly.

Fortunately, I was wrong. Whew. :)

On a related note, here’s a pic of the Wizards cast from the TCAs last week. :)

Selena Gomez Concert Videos

Selena Gomez Concert videos from Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA on August 14th 2010. (So yes, she’s 18 here ;) )

Selena Gomez Concert Videos

Her new song A Year Without Rain in HD…

… and “A Year Without Rain” from another angle:

Selena covered Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”…

… and she also covered “Love is a Battlefield” (unfortunately, the video cuts off)

Here’s a full version of “Falling Down” in which she looks particularly good.

And I’m surprised she’s still singing “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” :)

She likes to jump a lot on stage. I like that. ;)

(Boo. Looks like I can’t embed these half videos anymore. Sorry.)

First look at Selena’s new Album

Posted on: Saturday, August 14th, 2010 in: Selena Gomez

They changed the font for “Selena Gomez and the Scene.” Weird.

First look at Selena Gomez's new Album

First thought: Yay, can’t wait for the album.
Second thought: OMG, just look at her boobs in that pic!
Third thought: It’s about time she used her sex appeal to sell more CDs. ;)

Rumor has it that the new album will only be ten songs, with a deluxe version that has an extra two remixes. Given that her first CD was 12 new songs and a remix, I’m a little disappointed that this new one will be shorter. But I still don’t know how she found the time to record one song, let alone ten, so I guess I’ll take what I can get and be happy. :)

My Thoughts on Ramona And Beezus

Posted on: Saturday, July 24th, 2010 in: Selena Gomez

Honestly, I can’t remember if I’ve ever read any of Beverly Cleary’s Ramona stories. Ever since Selena first announced her connection to this project over a year ago, I’ve been trying to figure out if I had or not and I’m still not sure.

So for all intents and purposes I went into the movie not really knowing the characters beforehand. That said, this was very much a character driven story. The financial difficulties of Dad losing his job shaped the primary conflict of the film, but the story was really about how the various family members, and especially Ramona, reacted to it.

Ramona And Beezus

Of course, the only reason why I bothered running out to see it was because of Selena. And there was way too much Ramona and not enough Beezus. Yes, Ramona is the main character and the story is through her eyes (as I quickly noticed the low camera angles) but I still would have likes to see more Selena. Of course, there was that great scene of Selena and Ramona in bed. And I did see Selena’s mole a couple times. :)

Selena and Joey

One of the complaints I saw from the “professional” reviewers was that the CGI effects in Ramona’s fantasies where a little over the top and I have to agree. There probably wasn’t a better way to express Ramona’s imagination on screen, but it hurt the overall flow of the movie.

Ramona Runs Away

I liked Ramona’s plans to save the house. It was a feeling I could relate to, unfortunately. The lemonade scene was quite well done, but the Car wash idea was even better. Although I have to say, and I admit I don’t know what kind of paint it was, but if the jeep was already wet when the paint was dumped on it, I would think it would be fairly easy to wash it off before it set.

And Ramona sure had some bad luck. The egg thing in particular. I was like, “Wait No!” seconds before she cracked it on her head. Although I must admit she made a lot of her own problems. I mean, if you’re gonna hide your report card, you should hide your sister’s too. :P

“Who could ever love a girl named Beezus?”

Selena Gomez - Beezus

If she looked like Selena? I don’t care what her name is! Despite being the one “everyone loves” Beezus had a rough time in this movie! She didn’t even get the new room! The oldest should always get first pic. And when Ramona almost set the house on fire, I know I was supposed to think Beezus was overreacting but I was more like It’s about time!

Ramona And Beezus in Mourning

And then the cat died. :( That one really got to me. Picky Picky was a very pretty cat, and was almost as much of a character as the kids. Heck, the cat had as many lines as the baby.

Ramona And Beezus - Aunt Bea

Finally, a few thoughts on the cool Aunt Bea. Ginnifer Goodwin was brilliant casting. She looks just like I imagine Selena will look like when we’re married she’s older. And a wedding! What a classic but not very often used way to end a movie. That plot really pulled the whole film together.

Selena Gomez and Hutch Dano

And I didn’t even realize that Hutch Dano of “Zeke and Luther” and “Den Brother” played Henry until the very end. That lucky bastard. :)

Finally, I found the songs they used in the film to be rather interesting. “Walking on sunshine” by Aly and AJ seemed like a strange choice. It’s a classic, but why Aly & AJ’s version? Skye Sweetnam’s “Let’s Get Movin’ Into Action” was quite unexpected! I love Skye, but I’m surprised the producers even knew that song existed! Taylor Swift got a song too. I don’t recall the title but I recognized her voice. And I liked the usage of “Eternal Flame,” a really good song.

On the whole, a good movie. Not a blockbuster by any means, but a good family film with a good cast. Honestly, I think it’s something the adults will like and relate to more than the kids. 4/5

Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens both posed for Vanity Fair fairly recently, although I don’t know exactly how old these are anymore.

What I do know is that both girls look great in these, so I figured they where worth posting after all. :)

And am I the only one that’s noticed that Vanessa can, at least at times, be as cute as Selena?

More Gallery Issues

Posted on: Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 in: Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Website

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

For the fourth time, the DC Fans gallery has been shut down by my host. Each time it has happened before it’s been for a different reason, and on each reboot I’ve had to make changes to avoid the problem that took it down last time.

But this time, I didn’t even get a reason and my emails to the old host go unanswered. So I’ve decided to begin on the the 5th reincarnation on the gallery with yet another host. Time will tell if this is the one that lasts.

It was just a couple days ago that I had announced the restoration of the Disney Channel Games Screencaps to the site. Those caps, along with the remaining TSL caps where the last of the original caps I was trying to restore. Well, now I have to start over again!

With any luck, I’ll have everything added back to the new host in about two months. It’s been less than 14 weeks since I had the full gallery online, and this is only my third attempt. :(

But hey, at least I made sure to get those new Demi & Selena bikini pictures back up fast. ;)
