Disney Channel May Highlights

The month of May features the return of Good Luck Charlie (more on that later) plus new episodes of Austin & Ally, Jessie, Phineas and Ferb, and Shake It Up! However, So Random has already ended it’s season run and there are no new episodes of A.N.T. Farm and Fish Hooks planned for this month either.

Good Luck Charlie Season Three Premiere

Good Luck Charlie season three kicks off on Sunday May 6th with two back to back episodes.
In the premiere episode, Amy Duncan, now in her third trimester, decides it’s time for her expanding family to move into a bigger house. Immediately following the premiere, in an all new episode, Gabe thinks he is being sent to a boarding school, PJ has a hard time letting go of his old hair salon, and everyone at school thinks Teddy is a jinx on Spencer.

New Series: Dog with a Blog

Disney Channel has officially picked up the series “Dog with a Blog” staring G. Hannelius for a full season order. Production begins this Summer for a premiere in the Fall. A talking dog series seems a little out there, but we’ve been surprised before.
A family sitcom from the pet’s point-of-view, it centers on step-siblings whose parents buy them a dog to encourage them to get along. That happens – to some extent – as brother and sister discover a big secret about their family’s latest addition… that the dog can talk AND blog. The series will introduce a talented cast, among them, Disney Channel’s next big star: a four year-old, mixed breed named Kuma in the role of Stan, the talking dog with a blog.

New Disney Pilot: Bits & Pieces

Disney has ordered a new pilot called Bits & Pieces which sounds a lot like a redo of Life with Derek. Derek was a very well done show, but it wasn’t actually produced by Disney so it would be interesting to see Disney’s direct take on the idea if the pilot ends up being picked up for a full series order.
In the story, the family tree gets a whole lot bigger when high school basketball coach Pete marries the school psychologist Jodie, much to the chagrin of their four kids. Willful teenager Alanna recounts all the family moments through comedic vignettes, while her awkward brother Sticky and their new step siblings Crystal and Brody help fill in the bits and pieces as they begin their journey together as a new family.

Rich Ross Resigns!

Rich Ross was the president of the Disney Channel when Kim Possible was cancelled and SDS was founded. In 2009 Bob Iger fired Walt Disney Studios head Dick Cook and promoted Ross to the position. Ross continued in that post until last month when he was forced to resign in the wake of the John Carter debacle (and more importantly Ross’s mishandling of the spin). A replacement has yet to be named.

Disney Channel’s Executive Promotions

In related news, Richard Loomis has been promoted to the newly created position of Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Mr Loomis had joined DC back in 2007 and has been leading their marketing efforts ever since.
Karen K. Miller has also been promoted to Executive Director, Worldwide Programming Strategy, which puts her in a very prominent position as far as the future direction of the channel.

Phineas & Ferb to Replace Kim Possible at Epcot

This is disappointing, but not really unexpected. Instead of standing with the franchise, Disney just casts KP to the sidelines in favor of capitalizing on Phineas and Ferb for a short while instead.
[The]“Kim Possible” interactive game at Epcot will be replaced with Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure … As the Orlando Sentinel reports, visitors will become secret agents to help the “Phineas & Ferb” character defeat his archenemy Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Families with kids that adore the series will probably enjoy an afternoon helping the platypus out.

Brenda Song in a new Pilot for NBC

Disney starlet Brenda Song recently filmed a new pilot titled “Table For Three” for NBC! Our own Webmaster Greg was at the taping for the pilot, and he assures us that the show was phenomenal and we hope that it gets picked up for a full season run.
Logline: Revolves around a young woman who returns home from overseas to find her father in a serious relationship with the “mean girl” from her high school.

Tiffany Thornton and Friends at the Roxy in LA

So Random’s Tiffany Thornton hosted a special concert at the Roxy in LA on April 22nd 2012 featuring Trevor Jackson (from the upcoming DCOM Let It Shine), Savvy and Mandy, Pop! Fiction, Savannah Outen, 5-L (featuring Booboo Stewart from Twilight and his sister Fivel), and of course Tiffany herself. Also in attendance at the event were several of her So Random cast mates: Matthew Scott Montgomery, Audrey Whitby, and Allisyn Ashley Arm plus Tiffany’s good friend Cassie Scerbo from ABC Family’s Make It or Break It. Webmaster Greg was in attendance and provided a detailed write up of the event including photos and many videos from the show.

Well… as the world’s biggest Kim Possible fan (and that’s not like the Selena’s my wife thing, I really mean that) this really bothers me. Although the fact that it’s going to be replaced with Phineas & Ferb does soften the blow a little. A little.

To the delight of kids and probably some parents planning a vacation to the Disney World resort in Orlando, Fla., the recent announcement on the official Disney blog that old “Kim Possible” interactive game at Epcot will be replaced with Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure adds one more thing on the to-do list. As the Orlando Sentinel reports, visitors will become secret agents to help the “Phineas & Ferb” character defeat his archenemy Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Families with kids that adore the series will probably enjoy an afternoon helping the platypus out.
Why the change?
As InsidetheMagic.net reports, the change was pretty much necessitated by the fact “Kim Possible” had not been on the air for a while. For Disney, capitalizing on the popularity of a current show like “Phineas & Ferb” is a great way to get kids excited to explore World Showcase, which can be a chore for any parent.
Where do you sign up to play?
While specifics have not really been laid down yet, if the current game is replaced with the new one the Disney website states Innoventions, the Odyssey Bridge, the entrance to World Showcase and several other kiosks were equipped for Kim Possible, which means they could be easily converted for Agent P.
How much does the game cost to play?
The Disney website indicates the game is included with park admission; however, players should be prepared to leave credit card information for the secret agent device that players are issued to experience the interactive elements of the game.
Is the game for everyone?
As anyone who has played the “Kim Possible” game through can probably attest, visitors looking to buzz through World Showcase should probably avoid the game as some exploration and backtracking is usually required. But players can move at their leisure and play the game at their own pace, which makes it great for younger players. So while not for everyone, the game can provide a nice experience for helping kids look forward to World Showcase a little bit more.
Are there any other interactive games available at Disney World?
The new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game was unveiled earlier this year at the Magic Kingdom theme park, as reported by ARGN.com. In that game, which is also included with park admission, players are issued collectible trading cards with spells that aid in the quest to keep the Magic Kingdom safe from a host of Disney villains.

Greetings from Epcot!
All the would-be secret agents out there will find a great new interactive experience at Epcot this year.
Coming this summer, Disney Phineas & Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure is based on the wily secret-agent alter-ego of Perry the Platypus – faithful pet to the title characters from Disney’s animated series “Phineas & Ferb.” Although just a simple pet to Phineas and Ferb, Perry turns into Agent P in each episode to help stop the misguided plans of his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Epcot guests will transform into secret agents to help Agent P thwart some of Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s most daring plots. Agents will use a “high-tech secret agent device” to receive clues for each case. Solving the clues will take agents to different places throughout seven World Showcase countries at Epcot – Mexico Pavilion, France Pavilion, Germany Pavilion, Norway Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, China Pavilion and the United Kingdom Pavilion. Agents will scour each country for clues, evil “Inators,” and – with a little bit of luck – help Agent P defeat Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Everyone ready to don their fedoras and help Agent P? I can’t wait!
Disney Phineas & Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure will arrive at Epcot and the current Disney Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure will close in summer.

Sean Cocchia Promoted at Disney Channel

Following Gary Marsh’s recent promotion, it seems logical that Sean Cocchia would be moving up a step as well. Together Marsh and Cocchia have played a major role in shaping the direction of the channel for the past few years.
Sean Cocchia has been promoted to the new role of Senior Vice President, Business Operations and General Manager, Disney Channels Worldwide,… Cocchia has been with Disney since 1998 and was most recently Senior Vice President and General Manager, Radio Disney. Kimvention Cancelled

Last night Donald Speirs (Chairman & CEO,
Kimvention 2012, Inc.) announced that due to low ticket sales Kimvention 2012 has been cancelled.
Lots of people over the last six months said they wanted to attend. Even pledged they would buy tickets once they went on sale. But I guess they wanted to attend something other than what I offered. When we opened the event sales a couple of weeks ago, almost no one purchased tickets.
The entire Save Disney Shows team would like to take a moment to thank Mr. Speirs and the entire Kimvention team for their efforts to organize this event and keep KP’s memory alive. Please take a moment to read the full letter at the Kimvention 2012 website and please consider making a donation to St Judes in honor of Gary Sperling.
It is possible that some sort of smaller event may take place with certain members of the crew. We will keep you updated if and when we know more.
Selena Gomez’s UNICEF Benefit Concert

Save The Nine Lives of Chloe King

ABC Family clearly didn’t learn their lesson and they have AGAIN cancelled a new series after only ten episodes! The ABC Family series The Nine Lives of Chloe King was just getting started and had just begun to build up what was a very large and elaborate story line. We had some major plot elements revealed in the mid-season finale, which unfortunately has become the series finale. We call on all Disney fans to help us in our campaign to get this series renewed. No show deserves to end before it’s potential an even be measured. Our first SDS event is next week on October 9th (for nine lives) and we really need your support!

Disney Channel October Highlights

It’s time again for our first look at that’s new on Disney channel this month. And it looks like a lot of Wizards! “Wizards vs. Everything” will be the 25th episode of the season and we are clearly nearing the end of the series run. Also new this month are the usual couple episodes of ANT Farm, So Random, Phineas and Ferb, Good Luck Charlie, and Shake it Up. There are also several Jessie episodes, which one would expect seeing as how it’s a new show.

Gary Marsh, Disney Channel’s Chief Creative Officer has now been promoted to president for Disney Channels Worldwide in addition to continuing to serve as Chief Creative Officer. Mr Marsh has long been one of the most receptive and well respected executives at Disney Channel, and his ascension to president of the channel is very good news for the fans in general.
In commenting on Mr. Marsh and his promotion, Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group said, “Gary Marsh has been the driving creative force behind Disney Channels remarkable growth for the past 15 plus years, responsible for some of the most iconic and successful franchises in our history, including ‘Hannah Montana,’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ ‘High School Musical,’ ‘Phineas and Ferb,’ ‘That’s So Raven,’ ‘Shake It Up’ and many others.” She continued, “The evolution and growth of our Disney Channels business will come from the alignment of this great creative with strong distribution, in all its myriad forms. There is no one better suited to manage this than Gary. He not only understands the zeitgeist of kids’ culture, he helped create it. Our business couldn’t be in better hands.”

Kim Possible Fan Convention 2012 Update

Last month we brought you a message from the leaders of the Kim Possible Fan Convention project. This month, we just wanted to give you a few important updates regarding the status of the project.
Kimvention 2012 is the Kim Possible Fan Convention happening the weekend on June 8-10 in Southern CA. We’re finalizing the venue and when we do, we’ll announce the location.
It’s a fan convention to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 21st Century’s first great heroine, and the team that brought her to the screen. We are working to put together a lineup of panels and events to entertain and maybe inform some fans about how a show like KP gets put together, all the care taken by people who truly are plying a craft.
There’s lots more news to come, so go ahead and like us, then watch for updates! Thanks!

Debby Ryan’s Jessie Begins Filming

Debby Ryan’s new show Jessie filmed it’s first episode back on Friday, June 17th 2011 at Hollywood Center Studios. In the new series, Debby plays recent HS graduate Jessie who was raised in rural Texas. She wants to be a singer/actress and comes to New York to chase that dream. She ends up as a live in nanny to four kids, three of whom are adopted from all over the world. The parents are like “Brangelina” with the mom an ex-model and the dad having a movie background. Jessie quickly finds herself hired and on the job.
It’s very much unlike any show Disney has ever ordered for DC. If it succeeds it could be a major game changer for the future of the network. If it fails, well, expect more shows built on the HM formula for a loooong time. The show is expected to premiere in the fall. We will of course continue to keep you updated.

Kim Possible Fan Convention 2012

Periodically, we bring you messages from other groups that are working on projects that we think may be of interest to you, our readers. At SDS we are committed to preserving Kim’s legacy for all time, and for this reason we strongly endorse this new fan proposal. We urge you to join with then directly via facebook but of course we will continue to keep you updated on the project via this newsletter.
KIM POSSIBLE FAN CONVENTION 2012: WHAT’S THE SITCH?
On July 15, a gentleman started positing on various Kim Possible fan sites across the Internet. His one question – was anyone interested – seriously interested – in having a fan celebration to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Kim Possible.
The idea isn’t without precedent – the Disney animated show GARGOYLES had a 13-year run of fan gatherings in different spots around the country. But there are challenges: KP fans had never successfully organized a fan gathering during the run of the show, the show ended it’s original broadcast run in 2007, it is currently not being shown in reruns anywhere in the US, and the last previous online effort surrounding the show left fans feeling bitter about the owner of the show, The Walt Disney Company.
On July 21, a Facebook page appeared online: KIM POSSIBLE FAN CONVENTION 2012. The goal was simple. Find 100 serious KP fans willing to indicate they liked the idea of such an event. It they stepped forward, then work would commence on building the event from idea into reality.
My name is Donald Speirs. I’m the gentleman with that idea, and today I’m happy to announce that we have reached and shattered that goal. As of August 1st, we start the planning stages for a Kim Possible Fan Convention 2012.
The goal of the event is simple. We’re going to celebrate the creative team that came together and gave us the first great heroine of the 21st century. We’ll have fun sharing Kim stuff. And this will be a fan convention, so we will be taking in ideas on what things should be at such a gathering.
We’re in the very early planning stages – but you’re in for a treat. For one thing, it’s not just fans who want this event. Word of this project made it’s way to Hollywood, and some people came to Facebook and said they’re excited about this event as well: Kurt Weldon. Thomas Hart. Mark Drop. Brian Swenlin. Stephen Silver. Lisa Schaffer. Andy Ice. Adam Berry. Steve Loter. Bob Schooley (yes, that Bob Schooley). With their input on the event as well, I expect this will be a fan event unlike any other.
So pencil in these dates on your calendar: June 8-10, 2012. Visit and like the Facebook Page for the Kim Possible Fan Convention 2012. Once there, you’ll get updates from me and the rest of Team Possible 2012 about what’s happening.
Come, join us as we celebrate the first great heroine of the 21st century!.
Selena Gomez Concert at the OC Fair

Our very own Webmaster Greg recently went to see the talented Selena Gomez as she kicked off her new nationwide tour at the Orange County Fair on Sunday July 24th. Disney had also invited some various actors to the show including Adam Irigoyen (Deuce, Shake It Up), Caroline Sunshine (Tinka, Shake It Up) Bella Thorne (CeCe, Shake It Up), and Stefanie Scott (Lexi, ANT Farm). Selena did a total of 18 songs, including songs from all three of her studio albums with an obvious emphasis on the newest album.

Disney 2Q Net Profit Slides 1.2%

Walt Disney Co.’s (DIS) fiscal second-quarter profit slid 1.2% as strong advertising revenue and an improving parks-and-resorts business were offset by poor results in the studio entertainment division.
Like many of its peers, Disney’s networks have benefited from a rebound in the television advertising market, while its theme-parks division has reported higher attendance and per-person spending. However, overall results were dragged down by the timing of the Easter holiday, which fell in the current quarter, along with the effects from the Japanese earthquake, the timing of certain DVD releases and a disappointing showing for the film “Mars Needs Moms.”
Revenue from the company’s media networks–its biggest top-line contributor–jumped 12%, while profit increased 17%. ESPN revenue was boosted by the football Bowl Championship Series and high ratings for regular-season NBA games. Wizards wraps it’s final Season!

Disney Channel’s hit series Wizards of Waverly Place has filmed it’s final episode. Disney will likely stretch out the last of the new episodes through the end of the year and possibly even into early 2012. It looks like the promises second movie won’t be happening though… which leaves the serious possibility that the series will end without an answer to the question of who will win the wizards competition.

Hellcats Cancelled!

We had touched on this subject last month, but it’s official now that the CW has cancelled Aly and Ashley’s series Hellcats. They never really got behind the series saddling it with a terrible time slot so it’s not really a surprise.

So Random premieres June 5th

Sonny with a Chance may be over, but Demi’s cast mates are carrying on with a new spin off series focusing on the show-within-a-show So Random. The new series focuses entirely on the comedy with pretty much no connection to Sonny‘s plot what so ever. Still, it’s got a good cast and it’s pretty well written. Give it a chance, the series premieres June 5th at 8:30 after the Shake it Up / Good Luck Charlie crossover special.

New DCOM: My Babysitter’s a Vampire

This looks so stupid. But you never know; we thought Lemonade Mouth would be stupid and it actually ended up being quite good. It also looks like it’s part of a series?…

The DC Games are back… sort of. This year Disney is re-branding the DC Games with the environmental agenda.
Over 30 Disney Channel and Disney XD stars from around the globe will compete in “Disney Friends for Change Games” to promote conservation and the power of coming together with friends and family to make a difference in one’s community and the world. “Disney Friends for Change Games” teams will compete on behalf of Fauna and Flora International (Green Team), World Wildlife Fund (Red Team), Ocean Conservancy (Blue Team) and UNICEF (Yellow Team). Disney will make a donation of $125,000 to each charity, and the winning team’s charity will also receive an additional $100,000 donation from Disney.

Victorious Concert in LA

This really isn’t Disney related, but our own Webmaster Greg has been keeping his eye on the competition, and the success Nick’s Victoria Justice and Miranda Cosgrove with Victorious and iCarly have definitely played a part in Disney’s plans for their new shows in development including Madison High and Austin & Ally.
So of course when Victoria Justice and the cast of Victorious performed their first concert in LA for Walmart Soundcheck, he just had to check it out. And it was very impressive, which of course, was expected from the start!

Posted on: Monday, May 23rd, 2011 in: Christy Carlson Romano, Kim Possible, Save Disney Shows, Webmaster Greg
Late last year I mentioned that Disney had released Kim Possible seasons one and two on DVD through their Disney Movie Club.

Well, I did get my sets a few months ago and they are awesome!

There aren’t any bonus features or anything but it’s got all the episodes and that counts for a lot.

Of course, the US version isn’t nearly as fancy as the German version.

The individual disks have their own designs and everything…

…while the US version is just, well, there.

So in short, I’m glad I got both the US and German sets and I hope they decide to release seasons 3 and 4 as well.

So in honor of her 18th birthday, I finally got around to framing my new Debby Ryan autograph. Pretty awesome right? I love that pic of her.

I ended up spending a couple hours rearranging and fixing up my autographs wall. So I thought I might as well show it off. These first few are unchanged…

There are a few new ones in this next batch including Erin sanders (Zoey 101, Big Time Rush), Carly Schroeder (Port Charles, Lizzie McGuire) and Daniella Monet (Victorious).

I did keep one I’m in the Band pic for myself. And despite Disney flat out refusing to give me one at the filming, (seriously, they treat everyone over 16 like crap) I did eventually manage to get my hands on a Sonny with a Chance poster.

I finally got around to framing my Ariana Grande autograph. It’s only been 7 months. LOL.

I got my Bella Thorne and Zendaya autographs on the far right of this next pic plus my Taylor Swift calenders (This year’s and last!)

Last but not least, one of the rarest pieces of KP memorabilia that I know to exist.

I hope you enjoyed looking half as much as I enjoyed showing off. And no, you can’t have anything, so don’t ask.
