The Suite Life Movie

All things must end, and it looks like the Suite Life franchise is finally coming to an end later this month. It’s been quite a ride.
Television’s popular teen twins Zack and Cody, the longest running continuous characters on Disney Channel, are at the center of the comedy and adventure in the third iteration of their powerhouse “Suite Life” franchise, “The Suite Life Movie,” premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) as part of the hugely successful Disney Channel Original Movie franchise. Reprising their series roles are Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse, who also executive-produce the movie, Brenda Song (of the Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film “The Social Network”), Debby Ryan, Matthew Timmons and Phill Lewis.
Filmed on location in Vancouver, Canada, the comedy adventure movie takes place during spring break as Cody gets an opportunity to participate in a prestigious internship program. However, when twin brother Zack destroys billion-dollar scientific equipment, Cody is kicked out of the program. Soon thereafter, the brothers are approached to join the Gemini Project, a high-tech research center studying the dynamics between twins. Shockingly, they find themselves interconnected in a way they’ve never been before: When one twin experiences a sensation, thought or feeling, the other twin feels it too. While this newfound revelation helps the boys see eye to eye for the first time, it puts them in more danger than they could have imagined.

Billy Ray slams Hannah Montana

These days Billy Ray Cyrus’s life is imitating a bad country song: He’s headed for a messy divorce, his record company just delayed his latest comeback, and his cherished 18-year-old daughter seems destined to rip bong hits at every party in the U.S.A. No wonder he’s muttering about the end times…

Bella Thorne Shakes Things Up

As Disney’s newest show Shake It Up continues to get more popular, Bella Thorne (CeCe) continues to be just as accessible to fans as ever — a rare treat among celebs usually too busy for their fans. Our own Webmaster Greg retells a recent twitter exchange he had with Bella:
Greg: @bellathorne143 Such a diva. Can’t even walk on her own. Poor Sage. LOL (You know I’m only kiddin’ Bella).
Bella: @anitrain actually he picks me up with 1 arm but yeah. he can spoil a girl”
Waking Sleeping Beauty

You need to see this movie. This film tells the story of the 1984 a stockholders’ revolt that brought in the new management team that included Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy E. Disney (Walt’s nephew). It chronicles the decade between 1984 and 1994 when the studio created such hits as The Little Mermaid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. It is a Disney movie, and obviously has some bias in how events are portrayed, but it is still a fascinating look at a piece of contemporary Disney history that most people will not be familiar with. You can find the film on Amazon (only $4 to rent or about $20 to own). It’s also available on Netflix and a variety of other sites.

Disney and Netflix are greatly expanding their paid, legal online streaming services.

Press Release Follows:
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. and BURBANK, Calif., Dec. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/
– Netflix, Inc. and Disney-ABC Television Group today announced a new licensing agreement between the two companies that will allow Netflix to stream hundreds of episodes from the ABC Television Network, Disney Channel and – for the first time – ABC Family over the Internet.
The agreement, brokered by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, will add significantly to the growing selection of movies and TV episodes that can be streamed from Netflix. Once made available to Netflix from Disney-ABC – which, for relevant programming, will be no earlier than 15 days after initial telecast – episodes can be streamed instantly with Netflix memberships starting at $7.99 a month.
Among the highlights, Netflix members will be able to enjoy:
Prior season episodes of current ABC hit series “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives” and, for the first time on Netflix, “Brothers & Sisters,” all of which are among the network’s most successful and popular TV franchises in recent years.
Every episode of recent ABC favorites “Lost” and “Ugly Betty,” the latter making its streaming debut at Netflix.
Each season of several hit series from ABC Studios, including “Scrubs” and “Reaper,” which are both new additions to Netflix.
A host of content from the Disney Channel, including the hits “Phineas and Ferb” and “Good Luck Charlie,” which are also new to Netflix; updated and expanded offerings of “The Suite Life on Deck” and “Wizards of Waverly Place;” and library offerings from the smash hits “Hannah Montana” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”
A wide range of content from ABC Family, marking the introduction of ABC Family content streaming from Netflix. Included are the hit series “Greek,” “Make It or Break It,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Melissa & Joey.”
“TV content streamed from Netflix has proven to be immensely popular with our members,” said Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief content officer. “Adding to our existing Disney-ABC lineup with great network and cable shows, and opening up ABC Family for the first time, are important steps in creating a wide and diverse selection of content Netflix members of all ages can watch.”
In addition to the hundreds of TV episodes included in the agreement, Disney Channel and ABC Family movies such as “High School Musical,” “High School Musical 2,” “Camp Rock,” and “Beauty & the Briefcase,” as well as new releases “Avalon High,” “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” and “Revenge of the Bridesmaids,” will also be available to watch at Netflix.

LEGEND LIVES ON AT AVALON HIGH
BRITT ROBERTSON AND GREGG SULKIN STAR IN
DISNEY CHANNEL’S ORIGINAL MOVIE “AVALON HIGH,”
A MODERN DAY TWIST ON CAMELOT,
PREMIERING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12
“Avalon High,” a new Disney Channel Original Movie that puts a contemporary twist on Arthurian legend, premieres FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel and Disney Mobile for Sprint TV, MobiTV and Flo TV. Starring Britt Robertson (“Life Unexpected”) and Gregg Sulkin (“Wizards of Waverly Place,” Disney Channel UK’s “As the Bell Rings”), the movie is based upon the award-winning novel by best-selling author Meg Cabot (“The Princess Diaries”). It follows Allie, a transfer student to Avalon High, who discovers that her new classmates are reincarnations of King Arthur and his Court.
Beginning Friday, October 15, DisneyChannel.com invites users to participate in a weekly “Trivia Challenge” on Arthurian legend. Each week a new set of questions will be released leading up to the premiere. Players must complete all five weeks of trivia to earn virtual gems that will unlock a mystery game.
An exclusive preview of “Avalon High” will be available beginning Friday, November 5, on Disney Channel on Demand to a variety of affiliates including Cablevision, Time Warner and Verizon FiOS TV customers.
In “Avalon High,” Allie Pennington is ecstatic when her parents, traveling professors, tell her she will be staying at Avalon High until she graduates. She can finally join the track team, make new friends and be a normal high school student. But shortly after arriving, Allie discovers that something strange may be afoot. While researching a term paper on King Arthur’s legacy, she begins to notice some interesting parallels between the past and the present – from handsome quarterback Will, his cheerleader girlfriend, Jen, and their best friend, Lance, to Will’s brooding step-brother, Marco, a quirky kid named Miles and football players who act like knights of the roundtable. The deeper Allie searches, the more convinced she is that her school is a contemporary Camelot, and it’s up to her to solve the mystery of Avalon High before notorious traitor Mordred wins again.
The movie stars Britt Robertson as Allie Pennington, Gregg Sulkin as Will Wagner, Joey Pollari (Disney XD’s “Skyrunners”) as Miles, Devon Graye (“Dexter”) as Marco, Molly Quinn (“Castle”) as Jen, Chris Tavarez (“Big Momma’s House 2″) as Lance, Don Lake (“The Bonnie Hunt Show”) as Allie’s Dad and Steve Valentine (“I’m In The Band,” “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” “Crossing Jordan”) as Mr. Moore.
The teleplay, based upon the book written by Meg Cabot, was written by Julie Sherman Wolfe (“JONAS,” “Phil of the Future”) and Amy Talkington (“Confessions”). “Avalon High” was directed and co-produced by Stuart Gillard (Disney Channel’s “Hatching Pete,” “90210″); executive produced by Michael Jaffe (“The Informant!”) and Howard Braunstein (“The Informant!”) and produced by Janine Dickins (“Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior,” “Power Rangers Operation Overdrive”). “Avalon High” is a production of Sudden Motion Productions, Inc. and Ranger Productions Ltd.
