Disney Channel Holiday Programming
This year’s Special Holiday programming includes three new Christmas specials for Good Luck Charlie,Dog With A Blog, and Shake It Up plus a highly anticipated Jessie / Austin & Ally New Year’s Eve themed crossover special plus a new Phineas and Ferb. Unfortunately, that is about all for the rest of this month.
It’s not every day that you see Mater in a Santa hat, or Sleeping Beauty Castle covered in show. But if you head over to Webmaster Greg’s Socal Disney Blog you can find his newest photo journal from the park featuring many of the new holiday decorations at both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks.
Pretty Little Liars fans might be interested in Webmaster Greg’s report from Lucy Hale’s meet at greet at the Sears store in Orange County last month. “[She]hosted a ‘karaoke party’ … as part of her promotional agreement with Bongo.”
There are a lot of Holiday themed events going on in the LA area and around the country for that matter. One popular event each year is the Citadel Outlets tree lighting in South LA. Citadel outlet mall got Victoria Justice to perform last year, and the likes of Ashley Tisdale and Demi Lovato have both performed in years past. This year the title performer was rising Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande of Victorious and the upcoming Sam & Cat.
This was a very light month for Disney news, as the company tends not to make major announcements and changes around the Holidays. But we just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support and readership. So Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Season’s Greetings from the entire staff of Save Disney Shows and we’ll see you in the New Year!
Hey guys, we’re a bit late with this month’s highlights post. Disney really should have released this sooner. xD
Anyway, there’s not much new happening this month. The GLC, DWAB, and SIU Christmas Special have already premiered. We hope you liked them! Be sure to watch the Austin & Jessie & Ally crossover special tonight; it should be pretty awesome. There’s also a new Shake It Up next Sunday. And that’s all for this year.
Disney’s press release schedule is as follows:

Meanwhile, Amy and Grandma Linda learn they are performing the same song at the family talent show. Shirley Jones reprises her role as Grandma Linda. It’s important to remember that paper letters are the key to our efforts, and events are spaced out so you have at least a week to prepare as many as you can. Please refer to our how to help section for addresses and more information.
Then on the day of the event, you can also send faxes, make phone calls, and use our email program at SDSmail.org.
Disney Channel September Highlights
September looks like a a good mix of all the usual shows with A.N.T. Farm, Austin & Ally, Fish Hooks, Good Luck Charlie, Gravity Falls, Jessie, My Babysitter’s a Vampire, and Phineas and Ferb. Strangely though, there isn’t a single new Shake It Up scheduled all month!
This has been a long time coming, but Lemonade Mouth’s Bridgit Mendler has finally made her first move into music. I assume that she’s realized that Good Luck Charlie won’t last forever. So if you haven’t already, be sure to watch Bridgit Mendler’s “Ready or Not” music video.
A little bit of good news for the Phil of the Future fans. No, we’re not finally getting that DCOM but at least Aly may be coming back to network TV. FOX has ordered a pilot for a new comedy staring Aly and AJ as exaggerated versions of themselves. Like I said, at least she’ll be back on TV.
Finally out of the house and into their first apartment, Aly and AJ’s exciting new lives are interrupted when their mother unexpectedly moves in with them. Breaking In co-creator Goldberg and Zeke and Luther co-creator Dearborn will write the script and executive produce with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson. Aly and AJ Michalka will serve as co-producers.
Well, not quite everything but it sure feels that way! This is somewhat beyond the scope of Save Disney Shows, but given how Disney and Nick have historically watched the other for cues it is worth discussing these massive changes underway at Nick.
1) Bucket & Skinner – we have discussed this briefly before, but Nickelodeon set this show up to fail purposefully splitting the first season in half, airing some new episodes only a single time, and seemingly refusing to even air the rest of the season!
2) Victorious – Arguably Nick’s most popular show in a post iCarly era, Nick has announced that Victorious will not be picked up for a 4th season. 15 episodes remain and the series may live on in a way through the proposed Sam & Cat spin-off staring Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande.
3) How To Rock – The most shocking cancellation of them all. H2R is currently winding down it’s first (and sadly only) season with 9 unaired episodes left. This series had a lot of potential yet and starting to attract a serious and committed fanbase.
So why all the changes? H2R Executive Producer David Israel put it this way:
NIckelodeon [sic] is going through a transition right now. You already know that iCarly and Victorious are not coming back. Nickelodeon has many new shows in production and development that they believe will better suit their audience.
What can we do about it? Sadly, not very much. Time is not on our side with all three shows already out of production and unlike with the Phil of the Future campaign we don’t have the resources for a Nick campaign (let alone three) set up and ready to go. We will, however, encourage you all to tweet @NickelodeonTV with your comments and the Nick Girls Blog will be continuing to keep you informed of any future developments and actions you can take.
Kids Help Children Benefit
Speaking of Bucket & Skinner, several of the cast members and quite a few other Disney and Nick actors were in attendance at the 3rd annual Kids Help Children benefit for CHOC Children’s Hospital. Our own Webmaster Greg was also on hand at the event on behalf of SDS, DC Fans, and the Nick Girls Blog.
Attendees included Stefanie Scott (A.N.T. Farm), Sammi Hanratty (The Suite Life), Kenton Duty (Shake it Up), Ryan Ochoa (Pair of Kings), Dylan Riley Snyder (Kickin’ It), Mikey Reid (Victorious), Ashley Argota, Dillon Lane, and Tiffany Espensen (Bucket & Skinner).
You can read more and see all the photos, videos, and more on the Socal Disney Blog and our affiliated sites.
Allisyn Arm & Audrey Whitby’s Junior Derby Fundraiser
On a lighter note, did you guys know that So Random‘s Allisyn Arm and Audrey Whitby are in a Roller Derby League? The SFV Junior Derby held a fundraiser at the Audrey K boutique in Burbank, CA earlier this month and of course Allisyn and Audrey were there with the rest of their team mates to support the league. The girls were literally skating up and down the blocks selling raffle tickets! Naturally, we sent our SoCal field reporter Webmaster Greg out to check it out and to support the cause.
Can you believe it’s almost the end of August? And you know what that means, it’s time for the September DC highlights post.
We have a good mix of all the usual shows with ANT Farm, Good Luck Charlie, Jessie, Austin & Ally, Phineas and Ferb, Fish Hooks, and Gravity Falls. For some strange reason they’re also airing six new episodes of My Babysitter’s a Vampire this month! … and not a single new Shake it Up. Weird.
