DISNEY CHANNEL PICKS UP A SECOND SEASON OF TOP-RATED SERIES “A.N.T. FARM”
Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the hit comedy series “A.N.T. Farm,” TV’s #1 series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens, it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide.
Created by Dan Signer (“The Suite Life on Deck,” “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”) and executive-produced by Signer and Stephen Engel (“The Big Bang Theory,” “Mad About You,” “Dream On”), the series stars China Anne McClain, Sierra McCormick, Jake Short, Stefanie Scott and Carlon Jeffery. Recurring are Finesse Mitchell (“Saturday Night Live”), Elise Neal (“The Hughleys”), Zach Steel, Mindy Sterling (“Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”) and Aedin Mincks.
In making the announcement, Bonnett said, “Since its premiere, we have seen kids and families connecting with the ‘A.N.T. Farm’ characters, music and comedy. The talented cast, and the creativity of executive-producers Dan Signer and Stephen Engel, makes for a winning combination of smart and funny storytelling.”
China Anne McClain, age 13, is also a recording artist signed to Hollywood Records and is currently working on an album with her sisters Sierra and Lauryn McClain. Ms. McClain and two of her cast mates, Stefanie Scott and Carlon Jeffery, perform songs from and inspired by the series on the “A.N.T. Farm” soundtrack from Walt Disney Records. Released in October, it spent five weeks at #1 on the Billboard Kids Album chart and yielded two hits for Ms. McClain, “Dynamite” and “Calling All the Monsters,” each spending several weeks at #1 on Radio Disney’s Top 30. Additionally, music videos for “Dynamite” and “Calling All the Monsters” have generated a combined 22 million views online via Disney Channel, YouTube and Vevo. Ms. McClain recently performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade and will next be seen in the “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” on the ABC Television Network (Sunday, December 25, 12:00-2:00 p.m., ET).

Turns out TV’s favorite “Advanced Natural Talents” really are naturals. Walt Disney Records is set to release an album of songs inspired by the new hit Disney Channel original series “A.N.T. Farm,” performed by cast members from the show. Capturing all of the show’s youthful fun, the album features new and classic songs sung by Hollywood Records artist and “A.N.T. Farm” star China Anne McClain, her sisters Sierra and Lauryn, and “A.N.T. Farm” co-stars Stefanie Scott and Carlon Jeffery. The “A.N.T. Farm” soundtrack, which includes the new single “Calling All the Monsters,” arrives in stores and to online retailers on Oct. 11.
“A.N.T. Farm” star China Anne McClain sings six songs solo, including the upbeat “Exceptional,” the #1 Radio Disney smash cover of “Dynamite,” the breaking Radio Disney hit “Calling All the Monsters,” “Unstoppable,” the sweetly romantic “My Crush” and a sensational cover of the Christina Aguilera classic, “Beautiful.” China and her sisters also star in the “Calling All the Monsters” companion video, which had its world premiere Sept. 18 on Disney Channel.
Also featured on the album: “Pose,” a duet from “A.N.T. Farm” co-stars Stefanie Scott (who plays Lexi, Chyna Park’s rival) and Carlon Jeffery (who plays Chyna Park’s older brother Cameron). Carlon raps solo on the slow jam “Summertime,” while China Anne and her sisters perform “Perfect Mistake” and “Electronic Apology.”

Save The Nine Lives of Chloe King
ABC Family clearly didn’t learn their lesson and they have AGAIN cancelled a new series after only ten episodes! The ABC Family series The Nine Lives of Chloe King was just getting started and had just begun to build up what was a very large and elaborate story line. We had some major plot elements revealed in the mid-season finale, which unfortunately has become the series finale. We call on all Disney fans to help us in our campaign to get this series renewed. No show deserves to end before it’s potential an even be measured. Our first SDS event is next week on October 9th (for nine lives) and we really need your support!
It’s time again for our first look at that’s new on Disney channel this month. And it looks like a lot of Wizards! “Wizards vs. Everything” will be the 25th episode of the season and we are clearly nearing the end of the series run. Also new this month are the usual couple episodes of ANT Farm, So Random, Phineas and Ferb, Good Luck Charlie, and Shake it Up. There are also several Jessie episodes, which one would expect seeing as how it’s a new show.

Huge news at Disney Channel this month! Carolina Lightcap, the now former president of Disney Channels Worldwide, has decided to step down from her post. Gary Marsh, Disney Channel’s Chief Creative Officer has now been promoted to president for Disney Channels Worldwide in addition to continuing to serve as Chief Creative Officer. Mr Marsh has long been one of the most receptive and well respected executives at Disney Channel, and his ascension to president of the channel is very good news for the fans in general.
In commenting on Mr. Marsh and his promotion, Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group said, “Gary Marsh has been the driving creative force behind Disney Channels remarkable growth for the past 15 plus years, responsible for some of the most iconic and successful franchises in our history, including ‘Hannah Montana,’ ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ ‘High School Musical,’ ‘Phineas and Ferb,’ ‘That’s So Raven,’ ‘Shake It Up’ and many others.” She continued, “The evolution and growth of our Disney Channels business will come from the alignment of this great creative with strong distribution, in all its myriad forms. There is no one better suited to manage this than Gary. He not only understands the zeitgeist of kids’ culture, he helped create it. Our business couldn’t be in better hands.”
It’s been quite a year for Demi Lovato. But she’s gotten her life back in order and her new album “Unbroken” was just released last month. In support of the new album Demi did two concerts, one in NYC and one in LA. Our own Webmaster Greg was there at the LA show and has a full report including quite a few concert videos from the show. It was an amazing show.
Long time Disney fans may remember actresses Lauren Frost and Margo Harshman from Disney’s Even Stevens. Lauren played Ren’s slightly ditsy friend Ruby and Margo played Louis’s friend and eventual love interest Tawny. These two talented girls have since teamed up and formed a band called Violet Hour. Our own Webmaster Greg had the opportunity to see and speak with them at their concert at El Cid in Los Angeles last month.
