As we look forward to the new year, i wanted to share a little blast from the past. On that same DVD I mentioned a while back, I found a recording of the first ever Disney Channel Games!
The 2006 Games where hosted by animated characters up “in the booth” and for the first 3rd of the games, it was Kim Possible & Dr Drakken.

Something i had completely forgotten about, was the short “player profile” about Ashley Tisdale and her, well, shortness.

The first event of the first DC Games was the obstacle course – a bright multi-colored inflatable obstacle course.

The games featured such epic match-ups as Vanessa v. Ashley,

Lucus v. Shin,

and of course, Zac v. Corbin.

Now they can’t even get the HSM cast to show up for the games, let alone star in them.
In my opinion, the 2006 games where by far the best.

But I’ve still got my fingers crossed for 2009.

The screencaps of the final episode of the 2008 Disney Channel Games, “UltraMegaUltimateObstac-ular Relay!,” went up about a week ago but I haven’t had a chance to write a summary until now.
So of course, they started with some recap to fill time, and then presented several awards. Including the “class Clown” Award which was presented to Moises Arias.

The actual challenge, the UltraMegaUltimateObstac-ular Relay, was a bit of a disappointment. Sure, it was complex and used most of the players, but the whole thing lasted some 2 minutes. Hardly a final climatic challenge.

And with four flags raised, the actual competition is over. Before the halfway point of the episode!

As you can see, red team won.

I must admit, I didn’t see that coming. And from the look of it, Brenda Song didn’t either!

So the finished the show with a closing ceremony on the DC Fans stage. But i wonder, what is Selena Gomez looking at?

There was one surprise, they brought Miley Cyrus back for the closing ceremonies.

And Disney brought out the big checks for the charities

And that’s about it. Here’s Brian Stepanek signing out.

The fourth installment of the 2008 Disney Channel Games, “Foos It or Lose It,” certainly had an interesting game concept.
Also, I like the Gong.

For this challenge, six members of each team where arranged on a giant Foosball board. This allowed them only to move side to side and kick.

And Martin Barlan of the yellow team really ran away with this challenge.

Yes, this Frenchman was quite the soccer star, and it earned him several hugs.

And the unbelievable 5-0 finals…

…earned him a hug from Selena Gomez. Lucky stiff.

Selena was in such a good mood Moses Arias got one too.

As speaking of Selena, she also won a fan award…

…for looking the most like her baby picture.

Also of interest, was the “Tug of Four” filler contest.

In this game the JoBros, Cheetah Girls, and Sprouce twins faced off in a four way tug of war.

And despite all the talks of alliances, in the one game where an alliance could actually be helpful, no two teams worked together. Oh, and Green team won.

I’m guessing it was the Sprouce sibling rivalry that did it.

Anyway, Yellow team won the day,

And the other teams deflated their furniture

Demi Lovato was this week’s musical guest.

But instead of actually letting her have her night, they brought the JoBros back up on stage. That kinda ticked me off.

Oh well, at least they also showed her playing with her guitar earlier in the show

Last but not least, I think this is my favorite photo of Alyson Stoner. LOL

Only one more challenge remains in the 2008 Disney Channel Games!

As you can probably tell, I’m a little behind at the moment. The following is my summary of the third installment of the Disney channel Games: Baby Face-Off. I hope to have the fourth part up in a couple of days before the finale on Saturday.
Baby Face-Off started with an international food fair.

It kinda reminded me of Brenda Song’s “Pass the Plate” segments.

The actual competition for this round involved matching baby pictures, and the first two rounds took maybe three minutes total. Kind of a disappointment.

Fortunately, Demi and Selena actually got to participate in these events!

Which is good, ’cause in the rest of the episode Demi looked none too happy.

The second part of the games reminded me of the old Nick game shows. And I do miss those, so this was a good addition, in my opinion.

Plus I never mind seeing a Cheetah Girl in the dunk tank!

I do, however, have some issues with how Disney is promoting bling…

Although I must admit that the hat is cool.

And Brian Stepanek’s blingin’ look was rather amusing.

I’m also surprised no one pulled pranks with the furniture before. It’s not like it’s heavy.

I do find it kinda odd they chose to have Jordan Pruitt preform but not participate in the games. I know she’s not really a DC star, but they could have fudged it. And she actually did a decent job.

I also like this picture of Alyson Stoner

And this one of Demi and Selena

Expect a summary of “Foos It or Lose It” in the next couple days.

It took me a little longer than I expected, but I’ve made screencaps of the first two episodes of the 2008 Disney Channel games!

I’m very happy that disney has adopted the new half hour special model for the games as opposed to the “spliced into the commercial time” format of the previous games.

I do still have some complaints, though. First of all, I still don’t know why they have the international stars in there. We don’t know who they are, and thus really don’t care.

And what happened to Phill Lewis? If he’s busy that’s fine, but Brian Stepanek should have at lest told us why he was the only host this year.

We’re also missing some of the A list stars. The most notable stars that are MIA would be Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus. I think Ashley may have had filming conflicts, so I guess that’s okay. Miley of course pulled out due to the bad timing of the Vanity Fair shoot. She did still make it for the Musical act portion though – which only pointed out how she was absent from the rest of the games.

Demi Lovato was there, though. Even though this was filmed before falf of all DC viewers even knew who she was! (I like her helmet hair. )

And speaking of Camp Rock, Alyson Stoner had some very nice closeups. She’s a talented girl, and it’s good to see her at the games!

Last but not least, I have to say that Selena Gomez is not getting anywhere near enough screen time. But at least she’s in there.

So here’s the deal, I was looking at Selena Gomez’s YouTube and wondered if my screencap system would work on YouTube content. And I after playing with it for a little, I found it does!
So I am now proud to announce two new sets in the promos section:
YouTube: Selena Misses Demi
YouTube: Selena & Friends going to the DC Games
Selena’s just so freaking adorable.
