Posted on: Monday, September 14th, 2009 in: Chelsea Kane Staub, D23 Expo, Debby Ryan, Disney Channel News, Nicole Anderson, Selena Gomez, Tiffany Thornton, Webmaster Greg

Okay, so it’s been real quiet around here the past few days because I was at the D23 Expo from Thursday through Sunday. I was tweeting the whole time, and you can still find those comments on my twitter (@anitrain).

Among other things, I had the honor of meeting Debby Ryan! I even got to tell  her about my Debby fansite DebbyRyan.net

Webmaster Greg and Debby Ryan

On Saturday, I got to meet the fabulous Tiffany Thornton and the lovely Chelsea Staub. I told Tiff about my fansite TiffanyThornton.us and my SWAC fansite Sonny-With-A-Chance.com. She said the was gonna check them out! :)

Tiffany Thornton and Chelsea Staub

I met a lot of other cool people, like Nicole Anderson, Doug Brochu, and Cody Linley. I didn’t have websites just for them, so I told them about DC Fans and Save Disney Shows.

Nicole Anderson

And I didn’t get to meet Selena Gomez, but I did get to see her in person at the Wizards panel in the arena!

Selena Gomez Wizards panel

Besides all the Disney Channel stuff, I saw presentations and sneak peaks of Disney’s upcoming live action and film projects, new developments for the theme parks (which included Darth Vader demanding that the new Star Tours attraction open no later than 2011. And he brought storm troopers).

I even met and got the autograph of Disney Legend Mary Costa, the voice of princess Aurora!

It was really an unbelievable experience. I’ve uploaded photos and videos from the event to my new Disney events website SoCal Disney And I’ll post more of the Disney Channel stuff here over the next couple days.

Debby Ryan @ The D23 Expo!

Posted on: Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 in: D23 Expo, Debby Ryan, Twitter Fun

OMG! I get to see Debby too!

She just posted on her twitter: “I’m gonna be hanging out at D-23 at the Anaheim Convention Center this Thursday, autographs from 2-3pm. Come on by if you want a scribble!”

And this solves the great mystery of who from Disney Channel will be at the 23 Expo on Thursday. Well, I suppose someone else could join her, but now at least I know I need to get over there on Thursday. :)

Debby Ryan

I’m so excited! Just over a day left until it’s time! :D

Honor Society preforms at D23 Expo

Posted on: Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 in: D23 Expo, Selena Gomez, Website

Disney has been promoting a special surprise musical performance as part of the special Wizards of Waverly Place Event.

Honor Society

And now they’ve released a press release that says Honor Society will be preforming at the Expo on Sunday. I can only assume that 2+2=4 and that Honor Society is that surprise musical guest.

But I won’t know for sure until the event. And I’ll be sure to let you all know how it goes! :)

HONOR SOCIETY TO PERFORM AT D23 EXPO ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Hot new recording artists Honor Society, the first band signed to Jonas Brothers’ joint venture label with Disney’s Hollywood Records, will perform during the largest Disney fan gathering ever, D23 EXPO on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 (2:00-4:00 p.m.) at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The band’s debut album, “Fashionably Late,” will release on September 15 and its first single, “Over You,” is now rolling out on radio stations nationwide.

Delivering an R&B/pop/rock sound, skilled musicianship, energetic live shows and a sense of style, Honor Society was named a breakout band to watch by Rolling Stone, identified as Buzzworthy Artists by MTV and opened for one of the most popular tour this year, Jonas Brother World Tour 2009 with Jordin Sparks.

Honor Society built its substantial and loyal fan base by utilizing social networks including Twitter, You Tube and over 3.5 million music plays on MySpace (www.myspace.com/honorsociety).

Their hit single, “Where Are You Now?,” is #16 on the Radio Disney Top 30 and appears on the soundtrack to “Bandslam.” The band is currently headlining a club tour, The Full Moon Crazy Tour, and recently sold out New York’s famed Fillmore Theater at Irving Plaza and L.A.’s House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard. Their “Fashionably Late” nationwide concert tours begins in September.

Honor Society is: Michael Bruno (lead vocals, guitar), Andrew Lee (bass, backing vocals), Alexander Noyes (drums) and Jason Rosen (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals).

Sunday afternoon at D23 EXPO will also feature popular radio personality Ernie D from Radio Disney, the 24-hour contemporary hits radio network and the only radio broadcaster for kids and families, and “A Magical Afternoon with ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’” with the entire cast of the series — Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise, plus series executive producers Todd Greenwald and Peter Murietta. The Radio Disney Road Crew will be on hand with the “JONAS” Fan Van, playing music and inviting young fans to win prizes.

Tiffany Thornton & Chelsea Staub @ The D23 Expo!

Posted on: Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 in: Chelsea Kane Staub, D23 Expo, Tiffany Thornton

I am so excited that I will get to see Tiffany Thornton & Chelsea Staub at The D23 Expo this Saturday!

Original reports said that they would be there on Sunday (the day of the Wizards event) so I thought I would miss them.

As most of you know, I love Tiffany. She does such a great job as Tawni, and she’s cute as heck. Plus, she’s 23! :)

Tiffany Thornton

I like Chelsea Staub too, but not enough to watch JONAS. If she was on a show I’d watch, I’d probably like her even more.

Chelsea Staub

There are also supposed to be other DC stars at the expo on Thursday, but I don’t let know who they will be.

Be sure to keep an eye on my D23 Expo website for news, photos, and updates from the Expo! :)

2009 Disney Legends Awards

Posted on: Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 in: D23 Expo

One of the coolest things about the D23 expo is the fact that they’re bringing the Disney Legends awards to Anaheim! It’s the first time in the 22 year history of the awards that it has been held off of Disney property.

If you’re going to the Expo, it’s a can’t miss!

Oscar(TM)-winning actor Robin Williams, the extraordinary actresses of The Golden Girls, the voices of Donald Duck and Goofy, and other incomparable contributors to the Disney legacy will be honored on Sept. 10 at the 2009 Disney Legends Awards during the D23 EXPO at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Disney Legends Awards are a 22-year tradition of The Walt Disney Company, and the four-day D23 EXPO provides a rare opportunity for the public to watch the awards presentation. The awards ceremony, hosted by ABC personality Tom Bergeron, will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. It directly follows a special, one-hour presentation by Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger that kicks off the first day of the D23 EXPO – which promises to be the ultimate Disney fan event.

“This year’s recipients have had truly indelible influence on the Disney legacy,” Iger said. “Whether on screen or behind the scenes, these 10 men and women have contributed their talents in countless ways, and we are very honored to name them as Disney Legends.”

The 2009 Disney Legends Award honorees (listed alphabetically) are:

TONY ANSELMO is a Disney animator who, since 1985, has provided the incomparable (and some would say inimitable) voice of Donald Duck in movies, cartoons, TV shows and theme-park attractions.

HARRY ARCHINAL is the former president of Buena Vista International, who helped expand Disney’s cinematic presence into regions outside of the U.S. and Canada, bringing Disney movies to audiences around the world.

BEATRICE ARTHUR brought deadpan comic timing and enormous warmth to the role of Dorothy Zbornak in The Golden Girls from 1985 to 1992, a role that brought her a second Emmy Award (in addition to an Emmy for Maude). She was also a Tony Award-winning stage actress and is in the Academy of Television Arts & Science’s Hall of Fame. Note: This award is presented posthumously.

BILL FARMER is an accomplished voice actor whose enormous body of work has included providing the voice of Goofy since 1986. Farmer has also been the voice of Pluto and Horace Horsecollar for Disney productions.

ESTELLE GETTY was, in fact, younger than Beatrice Arthur but portrayed her mother, feisty Sophia Petrillo, in The Golden Girls from 1985 to 1992. She received an Emmy Award for the role – which she reprised in Golden Palace and Empty Nest – and was nominated six additional times. Getty was one of the first recipients of the “In Memoriam” Tony Award for her Broadway stage work. Note: This award is presented posthumously.

DON IWERKS is the son of Walt Disney’s longtime friend and animator Ub Iwerks. Don Iwerks worked at Disney from 1951 to 1986, and created revolutionary film systems that were used in movies like Mary Poppins (sodium traveling matte process) and in such Disney theme park attractions as “CircleVision 360″ and “Star Tours.”

RUE McCLANAHAN was honored with an Emmy Award for her hilariously lusty, warm-hearted role as Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls, which she also repeated on Golden Palace. From 1972 to 1978, McClanahan played opposite Beatrice Arthur as Vivian on Maude, and also co-starred in Mama’s Family. In addition to her renowned work on TV, on stage and in films, McClanahan is active in animal-rights, cancer and AIDS organizations.

LEOTA TOOMBS THOMAS was working at Walt Disney Imagineering (then WED Enterprises) when she served as a model for a new attraction called the Haunted Mansion. She soon became world-famous as the Mansion’s disembodied Madame Leota. Note: This award is presented posthumously.

BETTY WHITE has become a television icon, especially for her role as slightly befuddled, always charming Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls – for which she received one of her six Emmy Awards. White has also been a key cast member in such hit TV shows as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Palace, The Practice and her own series, The Betty White Show. She has been seen in 19 films and has long supported many animal-rights organizations.

ROBIN WILLIAMS is the recipient of six Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Grammy Awards and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (1997). His unforgettable film work for Disney has included providing the voice of Genie in Aladdin and starring in Good Morning, Vietnam, and Dead Poets Society. He also appeared in the short film Back to Neverland at Disney theme parks. This fall, Williams stars with John Travolta in Old Dogs from Walt Disney Pictures.

Each honoree receives a two-foot-tall bronze Disney Legends sculpture that signifies the imagination, creativity and magic they have brought to the Company. Disney Legends Award recipients also participate in a hand-print ceremony, and their bronzed prints will be displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza at the Company’s Burbank headquarters.

The first Disney Legend, actor Fred MacMurray (The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Happiest Millionaire), was named in 1987. Including this year’s honorees, a total of 237 Disney Legends have been named. Past Disney Legends include Tim Allen, Julie Andrews, Howard Ashman, Annette Funicello, Peter Jennings, Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin, Alan Menken, Hayley Mills, Fess Parker, Sir Tim Rice, Dick Van Dyke and Barbara Walters.
