Article: Phineas & Ferb to Replace Kim Possible at Epcot

Posted on April 11, 2012

Well… as the world’s biggest Kim Possible fan (and that’s not like the Selena’s my wife thing, I really mean that) this really bothers me. Although the fact that it’s going to be replaced with Phineas & Ferb does soften the blow a little. A little.

To the delight of kids and probably some parents planning a vacation to the Disney World resort in Orlando, Fla., the recent announcement on the official Disney blog that old “Kim Possible” interactive game at Epcot will be replaced with Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure adds one more thing on the to-do list. As the Orlando Sentinel reports, visitors will become secret agents to help the “Phineas & Ferb” character defeat his archenemy Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Families with kids that adore the series will probably enjoy an afternoon helping the platypus out.

Why the change?

As InsidetheMagic.net reports, the change was pretty much necessitated by the fact “Kim Possible” had not been on the air for a while. For Disney, capitalizing on the popularity of a current show like “Phineas & Ferb” is a great way to get kids excited to explore World Showcase, which can be a chore for any parent.

Where do you sign up to play?

While specifics have not really been laid down yet, if the current game is replaced with the new one the Disney website states Innoventions, the Odyssey Bridge, the entrance to World Showcase and several other kiosks were equipped for Kim Possible, which means they could be easily converted for Agent P.

How much does the game cost to play?

The Disney website indicates the game is included with park admission; however, players should be prepared to leave credit card information for the secret agent device that players are issued to experience the interactive elements of the game.

Is the game for everyone?

As anyone who has played the “Kim Possible” game through can probably attest, visitors looking to buzz through World Showcase should probably avoid the game as some exploration and backtracking is usually required. But players can move at their leisure and play the game at their own pace, which makes it great for younger players. So while not for everyone, the game can provide a nice experience for helping kids look forward to World Showcase a little bit more.

Are there any other interactive games available at Disney World?

The new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game was unveiled earlier this year at the Magic Kingdom theme park, as reported by ARGN.com. In that game, which is also included with park admission, players are issued collectible trading cards with spells that aid in the quest to keep the Magic Kingdom safe from a host of Disney villains.

Greetings from Epcot!

All the would-be secret agents out there will find a great new interactive experience at Epcot this year.
Coming this summer, Disney Phineas & Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure is based on the wily secret-agent alter-ego of Perry the Platypus – faithful pet to the title characters from Disney’s animated series “Phineas & Ferb.” Although just a simple pet to Phineas and Ferb, Perry turns into Agent P in each episode to help stop the misguided plans of his nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

Epcot guests will transform into secret agents to help Agent P thwart some of Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s most daring plots. Agents will use a “high-tech secret agent device” to receive clues for each case. Solving the clues will take agents to different places throughout seven World Showcase countries at Epcot – Mexico Pavilion, France Pavilion, Germany Pavilion, Norway Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, China Pavilion and the United Kingdom Pavilion. Agents will scour each country for clues, evil “Inators,” and – with a little bit of luck – help Agent P defeat Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

Everyone ready to don their fedoras and help Agent P? I can’t wait!

Disney Phineas & Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure will arrive at Epcot and the current Disney Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure will close in summer.

Great, now I need to get there somehow before they close the KP attraction… Does anyone want to pay my flight?

This opened up right after my honeymoon trip to Disney World in 2008. Guess I won’t get to experience it. What’s more disturbing is the sad realization how many of today’s youth have no clue who Kim Possible is. That of course is 100% Disney’s fault.

What’s so great about Kim Possible?

    Good luck with that Matthias.

Wayne, I know right? They could just air the show instead of replacing it with Phineas and Ferb.

Luis, it’s only the best show ever in the history of everything.

    Disney’s politics are really…
At least in the States. Disney Channel Germany airs two episodes per day. Additionally, it’s shown in free TV completely like two or three times in a year. So can’t complain here. Would bother me, too.

I agree Wayne It is 100% of Disney’s Fault that kids today sadly don’t know who Kim Possible is. Well I hope that Kim Possible will stay at Disney Parks in some sort of way. Disney should have never stopped making this show or at least never take it off the air. I SOOOOOOOOOO miss this show.

When I first arrived at Epcot and realised there was a Kim Possible feature, I was completely beside myself with excitement! I had photos taken at every single ‘Kim’ point, and spent hours with my Kimmunicator so I am pretty disappointed in this.

But even when they had introduced this brilliant KP experience, and had this amazing untapped resource right there, instead of giving the fans what they wanted – they just sat on their hands. There was no KP merchandise made available in any of the Disney stores (even within the parks), and the DVDs still had not been released – even now only Season 1&2 are out, and they are like hens teeth due to the ‘Disney Film club’ release they were given.

KP has been very badly treated, for it being such and incredible show. I love Disney, I really do, but I expected better …

Michelle and anyone else who has experienced this attraction, if you have any photos or videos you would like to share please email me at greg [at] dcfans [dot] tv. I’d like to archive what I can for posterity’s sake on savekimpossible.com.

I’m really going to miss this. It’s a shame that kids nowadays don’t know who Kim Possible is (Or for the matter, Scrooge McDuck, the Recess Gang, or Pepper Ann), but at least it’s a Phineas and Ferb attraction.

Derpy, well if they actually showed KP on the channel still then people would know who she is. But I digress.

I actually made a trip to WDW last week to see the KP World Showcase Adventure for myself before they tear it out. It took four hours to play through all seven adventures and I took quite a bit of video and a lot of pictures. It’s worth your time to visit if you can before it’s gone.

This is just sad. Disney Channel seems to always mistreat their older shows now. Luckily, kids these days DO KNOW what Kim Possible and other shows are, because siblings and parents who used to watch those shows are introducing them to their younger children or young sibling. Disney Channel should create a new channel for old shows like how Nickelodeon has Nick@Night
