Debby Ryan’s Jessie Filming Update
Here at DC Fans, we’ve been excited for Debby Ryan’s new show Jessie for quite some time. Well, I’m proud to be one of the first to bring you an inside report from the taping of very first episode, last Friday, June 17th 2011.
The show is filming at Hollywood Center Studios on the same soundstage where Wizards once filmed. sonny/So Random also films here, and Suite life on Deck also filmed at Hollywood Center Studios.
In the new series, Debby plays recent HS graduate Jessie who was raised in rural Texas. She wants to be a singer/actress and comes to New York to chase that dream. She ends up as a live in nanny to four kids, three of whom are adopted from all over the world. The parents are like “Brangelina” with the mom an ex-model and the dad having a movie background. So Jessie quickly finds herself hired and on the job.
Emma is the oldest and the only biological kid. She’s played by Peyton List. Luke is next oldest and is a bit of a trouble maker. He’s played by Cameron Boyd. Ravi is a ten year old indian boy who also has a pet Komodo dragon!? He is played by Karan Brar. Zuri is the youngest at seven, and is played by Skai Jackson.
There was mention in the press release of a 20 yr old door man named Tony. He’s played by Chris Galy but it seems unlikely he and Jessie would end up as a couple. There’s also a lazy, sarcastic butler named Betrum that’s not very nice to Jessie. He’s played by Keven Chamberlain.
Along with the producers, Debby has put a lot of work into developing this show and building each character’s back story. It’s very much unlike any show Disney has ever ordered for DC. If it succeeds it could be a major game changer for the future of the network. If it fails, well, expect more shows built on the HM formula for a loooong time.
The show is expected to premiere in the fall. We will of course continue to keep you updated as we learn more.

Whooo! I cannot wait for this show to premeire! I really hope this show takes off like I belive it will so that the HM-style blueprint will be laid to rest. As far as the birthday pic, Debby and skin tight LBD is a winning combination

That last shot of Debs with Tori is simply am-A-zing! I’m sorry but for me Tori totally disappears in that pic, all I see is my girl Debby.
OMG that look on her face makes me melt like butter and what a gorgeous pair of legs she has!
Greg also brought up some very significant points about “Jessie”. Not only is this breaking new ground for Disney but it’s the first time to my knowledge that they are giving this much creative control to the star . . . and a very young 18 year old star! I mean, okay, we’ve all seen stars names listed as executive producers once in a while but that is nothing more than padding their egos and also an excuse to cut them a fatter check but what’s going with “Jessie” is very different.
I’m not sure if they plan to credit Debby with anything other than her starring role in this series but if you follow her on twitter you’ll come to understand that she was DEEPLY involved in this show right from the initial concept all the way to the creative content of each episode. In fact it was Debby herself who approached Suite Life executive producer Pamela Eells O’Connell and specifically asked her to develop a show based around her. That definitely takes initiative, especially since Debby was (and quite frankly still is) a relatively unknown and inexperienced actress. If “Jessie” succeeds this can launch Debby’s career into the stratosphere not only as a star in front of the camera but also behind it as well. Could Debby be on her way to becoming the next Dan Schneider? For those of you who don’t know, Dan is the creative force behind most of the shows at Nickelodeon but he got his start in front of the camera.

I’m definitely going to check out Jessie once it is on tv. I’m guessing it will be episodic, but I wonder how strongly they’ll show her reaching her goal of being an actress/singer because that can potentially bring out rivals and other characters. D*mn this site for making me a fan of hers! I even made a friend of mine a fan of hers as well.

Panman, LOL. Sorry for showing you how awesome she is. Honestly though, I still remember when she first joined Suite Life. I was like, “Psh, no one can replace Ashley Tisdale.” Three years later I have their autographs literally right next to each other in the other room.

I didn’t say anything about Debby’s dress because it’s so hot that nothing needs to be said.
I could she Debby stepping behind the camera to further her career, although that means her beautiful self wouldn’t be on my TV screen anymore
. Despite my sadness over that possibility my love for her wants her to succeed at any venture she decides to go with.
Greg, its crazy how well the casting and hiring of Debby Ryan has worked out. I thought the same thing as you when she made her debut. She was a replacement part in the “Suite Life” machine. However, I never would have thought she would grow,figuratively and literally, into the woman and actress she has. I am very proud of her accomplishments thus far.

The show jessie is going to be a big hit! The boy who plays luke is soooooooooooooo cute! I think im in love! Unfourtanly, Im only nine and live in Vermont. But I’m still in love!

Did you watch the first episode yet? I saw it first thing this morning.
It was awesome but there weren’t any real surprises because DC pretty much let us see 80% of the episode with all of the different previews they have been showing.
Debby looked SO sexy in the dress she wore in the last few scenes. I am totally in love with her gorgeous legs. I really like “Mr. Kipling” too!
