Debby Ryan’s New DC Series: Jessie
Big news Debby Ryan fans! It has just been announced that Debby will be staring in a new Disney Channel series.
I for one definitely did not see this coming. Disney has almost always cut it’s stars loose one they turned 18 which is where Debby will be in just under two months. I’m somewhat skeptical as to how exactly they’ll manage to pull off a traditional DC series with her. I mean, there’s no hiding her bust as it is…
I’m starting to think that they’re finally opening up to trying things that are different to keep their talent. But, as with many tings, only time will tell.

‘Suite Life’s’ Debby Ryan Gets Her Own Disney Channel Series
The actress, who will play an au pair in Jessie, follows in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato in getting her own show on the channel.
Like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato before her, Debby Ryan has the star machine of Disney behind her.
The actress, who plays country girl Bailey Pickett on the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Deck, has been tapped to star in a new Disney series called Jessie. She’ll play a teen from rural Texas who moves to New York and becomes an au pair to a wealthy family with four children. The series will be previewed at Disney’s upfront presentation Wednesday in New York, where Ryan will be in attendance.
The series, which premieres in the fall, will once again team Ryan with Suite Life producer Pam Eels (Suite Life on Deck, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Family Matters). Disney will position the show, from It’s a Laugh Prods., as a companion to the already popular Good Luck Charlie.
Meantime, the network will continue to pump the Ryan brand through the Suite Life on Deck movie, which will premiere on the channel March 25.
Ryan, who previously appeared in the Disney Channel’s 16 Wishes movie, is repped by Innovative Artists and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Entertainment.

I can’t believe that Debby is getting her own show! Just a few weeks ago i was worried she would fall off the face of the Earth, now she getting the true Disney star treatment!
I am extreamly hopefull that this show will be her mainstream launching pad!

I’m happy that Debby is getting her own show. For once it’s not a 13-16 year old adorable girl who is in mid development stage. Debby is not your conventional small girl and I love it.

YES! THERE IS A GOD! I’m so proud of my girl Debby right now. I knew she had too much talent for DC just to let her go and now she’s getting her own show! I AM TOTALLY STOKED TO HEAR THIS EXCELLENT NEWS! As for her chest there isn’t any reason for DC to worry about that. It is what it is. WHOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO! Webmaster Greg you made my day!

I think I saw a porn with this exact same premise once. I have some doubts that the storyline of ‘Jessie’ will be the same as the movie though.

Arwin, I was sure you would love this news. And frankly, I’m thrilled as well. Next to Selena of course, her and Demi are my favorite of the girls currently on the channel so I’m thrilled to see she’s not done yet.

Greg, besides the initial surprise at this move, why do you think Disney gave her a show? Like you said, Disney does not keep their actors/actresses after the age of 18 often. What do you make of it?

This is all very strange. Disney’s had a lot of management changes in the past few years so I can only imagine that they’re actually gonna start to try more things and see what works and what doesn’t instead of using the same old formulas over and over again.

Guys, I think Disney is realizing that they need to capture a slightly older audience now. The Suite Life franchise is now over and shows like “Shake It Up” are playing to the younger crowds that are just getting into DC. How many seasons can they squeeze out of a show like that? Maybe two a most? It’s a show about a show just like SWAC (now SR) and eventually Cece and Rocky will be too old to dance on “Shake it Up Chicago” and then what? A show like “Jessie” has the potential to go on for a while as long as it’s well written and since it’s associated with the same people who did the Suite Life franchise there’s a good chance it will be.
Other older actresses on DC shows include Tiffany Thornton who is in her 20′s and if I’m not mistaken Raven was in her 20′s as well as were the rest of the “Cheetah Girls”. Remember Adrienne Bailon was already 25 during her nude photo scandal which is why Disney couldn’t do much about it. For HSM they had Monique Coleman who was 27 or 28 at the time. I don’t think Disney cares so much about age as long as they still look like teenagers.

Arwin and dcfan made a very important point. Everyone, with the execption of Raven, looked or looks like teens. Debby will be 18 with the body of a 22 year old. This is very out of character for Disney.
I am very happy that her acting carrer will continue

Now all we can do is wait until fall and see how Disney pushes and promotes the show. As we all know Debby has the talent, but it means nothing if she does not get the support from the network.

I’ll bet the Disney marketing machine won’t wait until the fall. They’ll probably start promoting it during SLOD reruns during the summer or perhaps even late spring. Remember Camp Rock 2? They started promoting that a good 5 months before it aired. I was also thinking of promoting it myself by adding a signature to my posts like this.

Lol that could work Arwin! You should call Disney and let them know that you would like to lead the marketing push behind “Jessie”.
However, Camp Rock 2 is a unique example. It was a star machine. While I think that Debby is a definite star in the making, she is not on CR2 level yet. I would expect the first promo for it to air during the SLOD movie the 25th

Maybe “Jesse” is a result of that letter I sent to Disney last month suggesting they should cast Debby in her own show. Perhaps the really large check I sent along with that letter helped too.

wow! sounds kinda like the telanovela Lola Erase una Vez…hope debby dnt wear no cute dresses converse or sings..then she will TOTALLY be copying Lola (Eiza Gonzalez) stupid disney channel
