New Phineas and Ferb Mini Talk Show

Posted on: Monday, November 15th, 2010 in: Disney Channel News, Phineas and Ferb

Am I the only one that finds this just a shade ridiculous?

We’ll see how it goes, I guess. *shrug*

HEEEEEERE’S PHINEAS…AND FERB!

POPULAR ANIMATED STEPBROTHERS TO HOST TALK SHOW,
“TAKE TWO WITH PHINEAS AND FERB,”
PREMIERING FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3 ON DISNEY CHANNEL

– “A List” Celebrity Guests from Film, TV, Sports and Music are Booked –

In the footsteps of the talk show greats, genial stepbrothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher will host their own animated/live action talk show, originating from a Danville set complete with a fake skyline, comfy guest chairs and the boys’ longtime friend, Isabella Shapiro-Garcia, as the stage manager. The mash-up show has already booked real life “A list” celebrity guests, a list that will rival morning, afternoon and late night talk show rosters. Movie star Jack Black (“Gulliver’s Travels”) is the inaugural guest on the wonderfully playful “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb,” premiering FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3 (between 9:00-9:15 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. It will also air on Disney XD.

The two-minute interview segments will encourage guests to mix it up, do the unexpected, disclose their fondest hopes and deepest thoughts and debate the implications of myriad subjects from super powers to juggling. Some segments will include musical performances. Advanced technology is a vital component of the “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” production, allowing others, including Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the opportunity to interact with the guests.

In addition to Black, the booked guests on “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” are: actor/comedian Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”), actor Seth Rogen (“Green Hornet”), legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, Grammy-winning recording artist Taylor Swift, the dean of talk shows, Regis Philbin (“Live with Regis and Kelly”), star of stage and screen Neil Patrick Harris, actress Emma Roberts (“Scream 4″), Grammy-winning producer Randy Jackson (“American Idol”) and talented comedian Cedric the Entertainer.

The Emmy Award-winning hit series “Phineas and Ferb” has ranked as TV’s #1 animated series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 for two consecutive years. It is TV’s #1 animated series in fiscal 2010 among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, delivering 3.3 million Total Viewers on average.

“Phineas and Ferb” airs on Disney XD and Disney Channels in 158 countries and in 32 languages around the world. In the U.S., five new music videos and the cleverly comedic “Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation” holiday special will be presented on Disney XD, Disney Channel, ABC Family and the ABC Television Network this year.

The success of the series has created opportunities for other Disney divisions, including the recently released Phineas and Ferb: Holiday Favorites, an album that puts the popular characters’ unique and humorous twist on holiday tunes. The release marks the second album from “Phineas and Ferb.” Its soundtrack is a solid performer, having spent 28 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album debuted at #1 and spent 50 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Children’s Top 100 chart. The soundtrack’s Spanish language version peaked at #4 on Spain’s Top 100 Album chart.

“Phineas and Ferb” has also inspired extensions via Disney Consumer Products (action figures, apparel and accessories), Disney Publishing (books, comics), Disney Interactive Studios (a fast-selling Nintendo DS game) and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

Created and executive-produced by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the series is a production of Disney Television Animation. The voice cast includes: Vincent Martella, Thomas Sangster, Ashley Tisdale, Dee Bradley Baker, Alyson Stoner and Bobby Gaylor. The short form series “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” is a production of Hieroglyphic Productions in association with Disney Television Animation.

New DC Series: A.N.T. Farm

Posted on: Saturday, November 13th, 2010 in: A.N.T. Farm, China McClain, Disney Channel News

I’ve been hearing rumblings about this series for a while, but Disney has now officially green-lit and announced this new series staring China McClain.

I never see that much of Meaghan Jette Martin. She’s a very talented actress and singer. We’ve seen her as the mean girl in Camp Rock, and as the nice girl in 10 Things. So she clearly has range.

And come on, who doesn’t like a pretty blonde? ;)

Disney profit sinks 7%

Maybe Disney should have released those Kim Possible DVD Boxsets earlier…

Walt Disney Co. profit sank 7 percent during the final three months of its fiscal year, disappointing Wall Street as one-time adjustments dragged down the company’s television networks and theme parks and more than offset gains from the blockbuster movie “Toy Story 3.”

Business remained soft at Walt Disney World during the July-through-September period, though the company said the resort’s fall bookings are beginning to pick up.

“Overall, we’re encouraged by many of the trends we’re seeing in our businesses,” Disney Co. Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo said during a Thursday afternoon conference call with analysts.

Disney made $835 million during the quarter, which ended Oct. 2, down from $895 million last year. Revenue dipped 1 percent to $9.7 billion.

The results were hampered by the timing of certain revenue at the ESPN cable-TV network and a quirk in the company’s accounting calendar that left this year’s fiscal fourth quarter with one less week than last year’s fourth quarter.

Disney’s full-year profit leapt 20 percent to just under $4 billion on revenue that was up 5 percent to $38.1 billion, thanks in large part to continuing advertising and affiliate-fee gains at ESPN and a slate of hit films that included “Toy Story 3,” “Alice in Wonderland” and Marvel Entertainment’s “Iron Man 2.”

Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger called the year “a good one financially and strategically for our company.”

It was another difficult one, however, for the company’s theme-park unit. Operating income at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts fell 7 percent for the year, to $1.3 billion — the only one of Disney’s five main segments in which profit fell. Sales inched up 1 percent to $10.8 billion.

That annual performance included a fourth quarter in which operating profit sank 8 percent to $316 million on revenue of $2.8 billion, down 1 percent from a year earlier. Disney blamed the shrunken quarterly profit on rising labor costs and pension obligations at Disney World and Disneyland, and on falling sales at Disney Vacation Club, its time-share arm.

The park results were also depressed by the calendar shift that left the company with one less week of operations than it had a year ago in the fourth quarter. For example, combined attendance at Disney World and Disneyland fell 6 percent compared with last year’s fourth quarter — but when the effect of last year’s extra week was stripped out, this year’s attendance actually inched up 1 percent compared with 2009.

The biggest attendance gains occurred at Disney California Adventure, the second theme park at Disneyland, where Iger said attendance has risen 20 percent since a new water-and-light show’s debut in June. Disney said attendance fell for the full year at Disney World, though it did not say by how much.

Hotel occupancy slipped one percentage point to 83 percent at Disney World during the quarter and was flat at 84 percent at Disneyland.

Still, company executives said they saw several promising trends during the quarter. Per capita guest spending in Disney’s U.S. theme parks rose 6 percent and per-room hotel revenue gained 5 percent as the company continued pulling away from the heavy discounting employed during the global recession.

Disney is still discounting more than normal in its theme parks. “But what we’re seeing in the marketplace today is even those promotions are a slightly shorter duration than they had been, and slightly better pricing than they had been,” Iger said. “And we hope that we continue to trend more in that direction.”

Also encouraging: Disney said hotel reservations in its fiscal first quarter are currently are running 5 percent ahead of last year’s pace, and average room rates are up “mid-single digits.”

Hal Vogel, a stock analyst who studies the entertainment industry, cautioned that Disney’s bookings are closely tethered to the overall economy and could dip if consumer confidence weakens.

But he added: “I think it’s OK, given what we’ve got right now in terms of the overall situation of most consumers.”

Abe Pizam, dean of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, said the improvement in Disney’s future bookings are further evidence that a recovery has taken hold in Orlando’s tourism industry. Pizam noted that many other area hoteliers are reporting big gains in average occupancy, lifted in large part by the strength of Universal Orlando, where attendance skyrocketed 36 percent during the July-through-September quarter following the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in its Islands of Adventure theme park.

“Everybody says we’re seeing a recovery,” Pizam said. “It’s no longer something we wish for or hope for. It’s here.

“Is it exactly what it was two or three years ago? No,” he added. “But it’s much better than it was, and it’s increasing.”

Beyond its theme parks, Disney Co.’s best performing segment during the fourth quarter was its movie studio, which whipsawed from a $13 million operating loss a year ago to a $104 million operating profit. The studio’s operating profit for the full year was $693 million, a nearly fourfold increase from a year earlier.

Operating profit at Disney’s media networks, which include ESPN, tumbled 18 percent from last year to $1.2 billion during the quarter but climbed 8 percent to $5.1 billion for the year.

At Disney’s consumer-products division, operating profit rose 22 percent for the quarter to $182 million and 11 percent for the year to $677 million. And in its interactive-media unit, Disney’s newest and smallest segment, the operating loss shrank 9 percent to $104 million during the quarter and 21 percent to $234 million for the year.

Disney’s financial results were prematurely released before the 4 p.m. close of the stock market, triggering a quick drop in the company’s share price. Disney said it is investigating the error.

News on Demi Lovato (Part 2)

Posted on: Thursday, November 11th, 2010 in: Demi Lovato

Again, I don’t want to contribute to the rumors about Demi, but there have been some significant developments since I wrote part one so I felt it would be irresponsible not to write a follow up.

Young Demi Lovato with Wine Bottle

We still don’t know what’s “wrong” with Demi. The rumors of Drugs and Alcohol are just that, rumors. Does Demi drink? Probably. What 18 year old girl hasn’t had a drink or two? But there’s a huge difference between being a drunk and having an occasional drink.

Demi Lovato Family at Treatment Center

Demi is NOT in “rehab.” She checked into the Timberline Knolls treatment facility [just outside Chicago] after she decided she needed help for “emotional and physical” issues. Her family went to visit her the other day and I guess someone followed them.. This has to be a very difficult experience for Demi, and I wish the media would at least try to go easy on her.

Demi Lovato Cutting Photos

Demi does have a history of “cutting.” It is not confirmed that her current treatment includes this issue, but I think it’s quite likely it would. There is no way those marks could be caused by bracelets like her people claimed. Just no way.

Alex Welch Black Eye

Demi probably did punch her backup dancer Shorty. She’s clearly got a black eye there, and I don’t think she punched herself (although she could have…).

From the Dow Jones Newswires:

A fist fight was what reportedly led Disney (NYSE:DIS) channel star Demi Lovato to leave her tour and enter a treatment facility, TMZ reports Thursday.

A backup dancer on the Jonas Brothers Live in Concert Tour was punched by Lovato, and Alex Welch is reportedly seeking legal action against the “Sonny With a Chance” starlet.

Sources close to the matter said Lovato feels “awful” for hitting Welch.

Aly Michalka in Maxim!

Posted on: Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 in: Alyson Michalka, Bikinis (or Less!), Hellcats

I guess being the star of a network show has it’s perks, both for the celeb and her fan’s. ;)

Aly Michalka in Maxim

Holy fucking shit! I know we all have our own individual tastes, but that has got to be one of the top five sexiest photos ever taken.

Aly Michalka in Maxim

Maybe it’s just because I’m not used to “sexy” pictures of Aly, but I have no words to describe how unbelievable awesome these pics are.

Aly Michalka in Maxim

We’ve always known Aly has a gorgeous face. And she’s recently started showing off her amazing rack, but I didn’t even really notice her beautiful leg they’re so long they didn’t even fit on the one page in the magazine!

Aly Michalka in Maxim

Speaking of the Magazine, I haven’t gotten my subscription issue yet, but you can expect an update if there’s anything new to report.

In the meantime, I do have the text of the article, courtesy of maxim.com…

Aly Michalka in Maxim

We’re pretty sure that CW execs have been eavesdropping on our “things we’d do if we ran the world” conversations, because they’ve actually taken our top idea—“make more shows about cheerleaders”—and run with it in the form of Hellcats. The cherry on top was casting supersexy Aly Michalka in the role of smart but flexible Marti Perkins: She’s hot, she’s nimble, and, gentlemen, she’s single!

What exactly is a “hellcat”?
A hellcat is just fierce—somebody who’s going to go for it 110 percent no matter what they do.

So we shouldn’t mess with a hellcat?
No, definitely not.

What’s it like playing a cheerleader?
My mother was a Raiderette and a Rams cheerleader, so I think I have it in my blood somewhere.

Is there anything at all appealing to women about male cheerleaders?
Yeah! Male cheerleaders are extremely masculine, especially when you understand how athletic these guys need to be. They are literally holding 120-pound girls up in the air with one hand. That’s pretty insane! A lot of these guys are actually dating their stunt partner or the flyer
on one of the teams.

You may have just caused half of Maxim’s readership to desert the football team and go into cheerleading.
Nice!

Are there any cheerleading moves that would lend themselves to martial arts?
Oh, yeah, for sure! Especially with my character, Marti. She definitely comes from a street background, and I think she incorporates some of those moves in her cheerleading.

So we could get an army of cheerleaders fighting crime?
Hey, there you go. Season 2, you never know…

We can’t help noticing that you’re in phenomenal shape. What part of your body are you most proud of?
Probably my abs. I really worked on them, and they’re starting to get me some attention. I’m pretty happy about that, I’ve got to say.

What’s the worst pickup line you’ve ever heard?
This guy at a party grabs my hand, and he’s like, “Hello, come to Paris with me next week.”
I’m like, “What? You don’t know me.” He says, “It doesn’t matter. We can get to know each other in Paris.” I wanted to run away and just be like, “Eww! You’re strange!” I want to make guys like that feel bad, so I tell them I’m 17 even though I’m 21, so they feel like perverts. They freak out, like, “Oh, you’re 17! Oh, sorry, sorry!” But some of them really don’t care. That’s when you know they’re weirdos.

So what kind of guy are you into?
I’m definitely one of those chicks who want to be in a relationship. I need somebody who can make me laugh and entertain me.

And someone who can hold you up in the air with one hand.
Exactly.
