Wizards of Waverly Place RENEWED for Season Four!
OMG, YES!!
It is official! Disney has announced the renewal of WOWP for a fourth season, AND they’re making a SECOND DCOM!
Of course, this second movie will almost certainly be the end of the series, but I don’t think season five was gonna happen one way or another.

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of its Emmy Award-winning sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and is in development on the sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” cable TV’s second-highest rated scripted telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), Kids 6-11 and Tweens. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production on the fourth season is scheduled to begin in August with show runners Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio (“Married…with Children,” “Greetings from Tucson”) executive-producing. Todd J. Greenwald (“Hannah Montana,” “Saved By the Bell: The New Class”) is the series creator and also an executive producer.
The script for the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel will be written by Dan Berendsen (Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam”).
In making the announcement, Marsh said, “The Emmy win this past year confirmed what we already believed — this is a cast of superstar comedic talent, backed by an inspired team of writers and producers.”
The series stars Selena Gomez (whose debut album, “Kiss & Tell,” from Hollywood Records, debuted in the Billboard Top 10 and has since become gold-certified), David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise. In Season Four, Disney Channel UK star Gregg Sulkin (“As the Bell Rings” and Disney Channel’s upcoming movie, “Avalon High”) reprises his recurring guest role.
“Wizards of Waverly Place” debuted in 2007 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program in 2009. A proven fan favorite, the sitcom has been lauded for its portrayal of Latinos and has won Alma, Imagen and NAACP Image Award nominations.
Set in New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, the series follows the Russo family — siblings Alex, Max and older brother Justin, each a wizard in training, and competing with each other to determine who among them will get to keep their powers forever. They live with their Italian-American father, Jerry (who was once a wizard), and their Mexican-American mother, Theresa, a mortal (who prefers that magic not be used in the house). Alex’s best friend, Harper Finkle, is the only friend who knows the Russo kids have magical powers.
New episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place” air FRIDAYS (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. A production of It’s a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel, the series carries a TV-G parental guideline.

OMFG!!! This is great! Like Hannah Montana WOWP deserves a 4th season.
Plus i like the idea that they end WOWP in a 2nd DCOM.
Other top grossing series like Prison break ended in a movie, 24 is also going to end in a movie. Its so cool that WOWP is also gonna end in a movie.

Yes peeps this announcement does come at a surprise to me. Keep in mind Peter is no longer with the franchise so how will the series continue? I’m skeptical I’ll say honestly. No doubt I’ll probably watch but we’ll see.

Well that will be the tell come this autumn season. But we do know Wizards wouldn’t be where it’s at now without Peter’s help.

I have loved WOWP since the start and I am glad there is going to be a fourth season and a second movie. It’s exactly what I wanted to happen. I think there should be 14 episodes in season 4 because there will be 86 from the first 3 seasons put together so if you add 14 to 86 you get 100 episodes. I think the second movie should be called The Wizard of Waverly Place and it should be about the Wizard Competition. I also think it’s sad that Peter Murrieta is leaving because he was a great contributor to the show.

I think the 2nd movie should be titled “Wizards vs. Wizards” like “Wizards vs. Vampires” and of course my favorite WOWP episode “Wizards vs Werewolves”.

Samantha pourquoi tu dit que la saison 4 aura que 14 épisodes.c’est pas parce que hannah montana saison 4 aura 11 épisodes avec un double épisode final=98 épisodes en tout qu’il feron la même chose pour les sorciers.bon c’est vrai que disney usa pour l’instant n’a jamain renouvellé une série pour 5 saison.s’y c’est le cas pour les sorciers elle battrat tout les records s’y la saison 5 voit le jour.pour l’instant c’est bien parti.rappellez vous quand la chaine a renouveller hannah montana saison 4.la chaine a dit que la saison 4 serait la dernière.je signal que disney n’a pas fait d’annonce comme quoi la saison 4 des sorciers serais la dernière.alor arretter de dire que la 4 pourait être la dernière.on pourait trés bien avoir une saison 5.s’y les score d’audience reste stable.

We should learn more about season four as it gets closer to airing. The Season three episode I saw filmed in February hasn’t even aired yet. LOL
