Hellcats picked up by the CW!
Aly Michalka & Ashley Tisdale are set to star in Hellcats this fall. We’ve been following the cast as they filmed the pilot, but now we have news that the CW has officially picked up the show!
From The New York Times:
Upfronts: CW Orders Two Series, Cancels ‘Melrose Place’
By BRIAN STELTERA martial arts action drama and a coming-of-age drama set in the world of competitive cheerleading will round out the CW’s schedule for the upcoming television season.
The network, which is jointly owned by CBS and Warner Brothers, said Tuesday that it had picked up two new shows, “Nikita” and “Hellcats.”
“Nikita” will star the actress Maggie Q “in the title role as a spy and assassin for a top secret U.S. government agency,” the CW said in a news release. It is something of a reboot for the “La Femme Nikita” film, television and book franchise.
“Hellcats” will star Aly Michalka as a college student who has to join a cheerleading squad after losing a scholarship.
The shows are intended to broaden the CW’s appeal, while still focusing on the 18- to 34-year-old females that the network targets when it sells advertising.
The network also confirmed Tuesday that it had renewed “Life Unexpected” and “One Tree Hill.” Back in February it renewed “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “America’s Next Top Model,” and “Supernatural.” A month later it renewed “Smallville.”
That leaves “Melrose Place” as the odd show out. It will not return next season.
But “Melrose” aside, the network still has time to pick up some new midseason shows in advance of its presentation to advertisers on Thursday.
On a related note, have a look at Aly’s boobs from outside her 21st birthday party last month!

Plus CW is rumoured to have ordered a full season and not half like many networks do now for new series so that’s even better news for the gals.
I am intrigued by this show and await it’s debut on Wed at 9/8CT in Sept.

i am intrigued by Aly’s rack! Cheerleaders…lots of sweat…lifts…eagles…splits…if only i lived anywhere close to be a member of the studio audience…i wonder if hellcats is a euphemism for anything?

Well the pilot was filmed in vancouver so one could say the series be filmed in the same location.
And isn’t the upfronts nice events? They’re an easy way for the networks who are financially backing these shows to get a return from advertisers by selling the actors/stars.

Yeah, no audience for this show. And I do believe they’re gonna film the “real” series in Vancouver.
