New DCOM Preview: Starstruck

Posted on: Thursday, October 15th, 2009 in: Disney Channel News, Sonny with a Chance

So it looks like Sterling Knight is getting his own DCOM. Apparently Disney had originally wanted Cody Linley for the role, but he had a scheduling conflict so they decided to go with Sterling instead.

New DCOM Preview: Starstruck

Disney press release follows:

PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN ON NEW MUSIC-FILLED DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE “STARSTRUCK,” STARRING STERLING KNIGHT AND DANIELLE CAMPBELL

Production has begun on “Starstruck,” a music-filled Disney Channel Original Movie starring Sterling Knight (“Sonny With A Chance”) and introducing Danielle Campbell. Slated to premiere in 2010, the movie is filming in and around Los Angeles at landmark locations including Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, the Hollywood Sign, Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the Venice Boardwalk.

The story follows Jessica Olson (played by Campbell), a down-to-earth girl from the Midwest who collides (literally) with Hollywood’s teen heartthrob, pop star Christopher Wilder (played by Knight). They wind up on a love-struck adventure in Southern California, but their bond is tested when she returns home and he publicly denies their relationship.

Also starring are Brandon Mychal Smith (“Sonny With A Chance”) as Stubby, Christopher’s childhood best friend; Maggie Castle (“The Time Traveler’s Wife”) as Sara Olson, Jessica’s older, star struck sister; and Dan O’Connor (“Malcolm in the Middle”) and Beth Littleford (Disney XD’s upcoming “I’m in the Band”, “Rules of Engagement”) as Dean and Barbara Olson, Jessica and Sara’s parents.

Knight and Smith have become familiar faces to Disney Channel fans since the debut of their hit series “Sonny With A Chance.” Since its February 2009 premiere, “Sonny With A Chance” is TV’s No. 1 program in its Sunday 8:00 p.m. time period in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, and ranks among TV’s Top 5 programs overall in the target demos.

“Starstruck” is part of the blockbuster Disney Channel Original Movie franchise which has delivered cable television’s #1 and #2 scripted telecasts of all time in Total Viewers and cable’s #1 and #2 telecast ever in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 with “High School Musical 2″ and “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie.”

The movie’s soundtrack will feature songs written by songwriters Mitch Allan, Jessi Alexander, Adam Anders, Aris Aronchitis, Peer Astrom, Ali Dee, Andy Dodd, Nikki Hassman, Jeannie Lurie, Niclas Molinder, Chen Neeman, Joacim Persson and Adam Watts.

“Starstruck” is directed by Michael Grossman (“90210,” “Grey’s Anatomy”); executive-produced by Doug Sloan (Disney Channel’s “Princess Protection Program,” “Minutemen”); co-executive-produced by Jeffrey Thal (“Slaves to the Underground”) and Jon Brown (“The Poseidon Adventure,” “The Tie That Binds”); choreographed by Zach Woodlee (“Glee,” “Hairspray”) and written by Barbara E. Johns and WGA-Award winning Annie DeYoung (Disney Channel’s “Princess Protection Program,” “Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board”).

Uptight (Oliver’s Alright)

Posted on: Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 in: Emily Osment, Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus

Originally titled “Sugar, No Sugar,” this episode deals with Oliver’s diabetes. But before we learn about that, they did this whole strange thing where Miley and Lilly think Oliver and the School Nurse are dating.

Hannah Montana - Uptight (Oliver's Alright)

…which I think was totally unnecessary.

Hannah Montana - Uptight (Oliver's Alright)

Anyway, Miley feels awkward around him once she learns his secret, and decides to invite him to a Hannah Party.

Hannah Montana - Uptight (Oliver's Alright)

A very sweet 16 indeed. Where the only logical solution is to eat everything that’s not nailed down.

Hannah Montana - Uptight (Oliver's Alright)

Or they could just shove it down their shirts. LOL

Hannah Montana - Uptight (Oliver's Alright)

Oliver eventually figures out what his friends are doing, and sets them straight.

Meanwhile, Jackson dated a smart girl and got dumped.

Also of note, Amber and Ashley where in this episode.

And just because I can, here’s a cute picture of Lilly that I liked.

Selena Gomez – Cleavage Candids!

Posted on: Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 in: Selena Gomez

This is definitely one for the “Cheap Thrills” department. And I went back and fourth over if I should post these or not, but in the end I realized that these pics are already floating around online, so it doesn’t really hurt anything to post them here.

And now you all know that Selena has a mole on her right breast. My work here is done.

Ashley Tisdale’s Crank It Up Music video

Posted on: Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 in: Ashley Tisdale

I’m loving Ashley Tisdale’s music career. Her new music video for “Crank It Up” has absolutely no artistic value and serves only let fans watch her dance around in three sexy, skimpy, outfits.

Hell yes! Now that’s what I’m talking about. :D

A Short Alyson Michalka Q & A

Posted on: Monday, October 12th, 2009 in: Alyson Michalka, Amanda Michalka

Aly did a short text based Q&A with fans back in August. I saved parts of it that I found interesting but neglected to post it until now. Sorry! :)

Aly & AJ - Twitter

Hey Aly what are you working on next? Is it music or a movie project?

Definitely working on music next. We just finished our new album. We finally finished in the last month. It will come out in the next few months. AJ and I have worked hard producing it and we hope you guys our fans will love it too.

Hi Aly! You are so cool! Do you like fashion and do you have a boyfriend?

Aww Thanks! I love fashion. Fashion is a huge part of being a female. I think it’s very important to have your own sense of style. Boyfriend? No not yet, just being patient for one to come along. I think it’s best when you don’t look for one.

hey aly :) i cant wait to see band slam it looks amazing. Im a huge fan. I love singer and want to be a famous singer too! have you got any tips on how hopefully i can get recognised or how to improve myself ?

Thats so sweet! I love you too. Main thing to focus on is taking lessons and practice. Make sure you go to classes. Make sure you go where there are scouts. Most important thing is to be passionate to your music. The fame and the money is not that important it’s making music to inspire people.

what is the strangest dish that you have ever eaten??

Probably escargot, but I find it very delicious, especially when it has butter and garlic.

Hi Aly :] I’m really excited to see you in Band Slam! I was wondering if you are planning to star in any new movies anytime soon?

I have 2 movies coming out next year. They are called Easy A with Emma Stone and The Roommate withe Leighton Meester. I am really excited about those movies, and I just finished those in the last couple of movies. It was cool to be able to play other characters.

Wasn’t that absolutely thrilling? I  found it interesting at least. :)

Save Ruby & The Rockits

Ruby & The Rockits is an ABC Family original series staring Alexa Vega and the Cassidy brothers. On 09/11/09, Alexa announced on her twitter that the show has not been picked up for a second season: “Ruby didn’t get picked up :(

But this doesn’t have to be the end! Save Disney Shows was founded by Kim Possible fans that thought it was that wrong for a “soulless” company to arbitrarily end the show at 65 episodes. We where able to brink KP back by working together. And since then, Disney management has been much more responsive to the wishes of fans, but it’s only natural that problems still arise.

The cancellation of Ruby & The Rockits has to be one of the biggest blunders of the Iger-era at Disney! Any show that brings together Alexa Vega and the Cassidy brothers has scores of untapped potential! There is no justification that warrens ending the series after showing just eight episodes!

Simply put, this cannot be allowed to stand. ABC Family can’t just produce ten episodes and just walk away, not only is it wrong to drop the fans once they’ve started to get invested in the show, it doesn’t make any business sense. What does ABC Family do with 10 episodes? It’s a waste of money not to order a second season.

We don’t know if there are enough fans to make a difference. ABC Family didn’t give the series much of a chance to acquire fans, but if every fan joins our movement, and shows the show to their friends that number will grow. And given the amazing success of the Save Kim Possible Campaign has made, We firmly believe that there’s nothing we can’t accomplish if we work together – starting right now!

D23 Expo Recap

This past September, Disney hosted the “Ultimate Disney Fan Experience,” the D23 Expo, at the Anaheim convention center (across the street from Disneyland). Fans in attendance had unprecedented access to Disney employees and technology including keynote presentations from CEO Robert Iger, Former Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Jay Rasulo, and Animation Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter. These executives presented a wide array of exclusive previews of upcoming film and other projects.

For a fan like SDS Webmaster Greg that loves both the classics and the new stuff, the Expo was like a dream come true. He saw a lot of cool footage, everything from rare shorts from the archives (including a never before shown Mickey mouse cartoon) to the newest unreleased footage (like the first third of The Princess and the Frog).

Greg got to meet some DC stars including Debby Ryan of the Suite Life on Deck, and Tiffany Thornton of Sonny With a Chance. And of course, he let all the stars in attendance know of our movement should we ever be needed to help save any of their shows. He even got to see Miley Cyrus perform “The Climb” at Dick Cook’s presentation!

Kim Possible got a couple mentions. The first was in the “world of disney” video that showcased the scope of the company at the beginning of CEO Robert Iger’s presentation. All of the currently running DC shows where mentioned, but KP and SWAC got slightly more prominent mentions. This video introduction also prominently featured the music of the High School Musical series. The other mention for KP was during Jay Rasulo’s presentation and was about the popular Epcot attraction. Greg stood and clapped – and people around him looked at him like he was nuts!

There where some problems, which was to be expected as Disney’s never done anything like this before, but all in all it was an awesome event.

Everyone should take a look at Greg’s Expo Website. There’s a lot of great information there about the event.

Dick Cook Resigns; Rich Ross Promoted!

Our very own Rich Ross has been selected as the new chairman of the Walt Disney Studios.

Ross was the president of the Disney Channel, and has been our #1 recommended target for letters and emails ever since the founding of SDS. But now that Ross is moving on to the film division, we need to change our strategies.

We’ll be watching as Disney reshuffles it’s personnel, and we’ll keep you apprised on whom you need to write to.

It’s Halloween Time!

http://savedisneyshows.org/day/halloween-micky-sm.jpg Halloween is by far the best recruiting day of the year. All year long we spend a lot of time encouraging everyone to get out there and find more people who don’t yet know about our movement(s). This might be by posting flyers around town, wearing SDS merchandise, and/or by posting about us online.

But on Halloween, kids (and their parents) come right to your door. So put a couple flyers on it. Or pass out handouts with the candy. It’s a great opportunity for near free promotion that should not be wasted. Start printing your flyers and handouts now!

For your convenience, we’ve organized our available flyers and handouts on our Halloween Bash Website. Spread the Word!

Just for the Hannah Montana Fans…

If you’re not a fan of Miley Cyrus or Emily Osment, this section is definitely not for you. For everyone else, Webmaster Greg was lucky enough to see both Miley and Emily perform this past month! Miley is currently on her second major concert tour, “Wonder World,” and she puts on quite a show! And we wanted to share some photos (see below) and videos from Miley’s concert.

A few days after Miley, Greg was able to attend Emily’s free concert in the parking lot of the San Jacinto, CA Wal-Mart store, which also featured Ashlyne Huff. He’s posted the Videos of the Concert which include all six songs from Emily’s upcoming EP “All the Right Wrongs.” And check out some of the photos from the event below.

Give a Day. Get a Disney Day

And finally, before we end this edition of the newsletter, we wanted let everyone know about a new program from the Disney parks that will let you in the gates for free! (And we certainly hope everyone has or will take advantage of their free birthday admission this year). What follows is the un-edited announcement from Disney:

Birthdays. Anniversaries. Reunions and beyond. Life gives us so many feel-good reasons to celebrate!

Because you’re a valued Passholder, we wanted you to know about a very special program beginning in January 2010. One that gives us all one more reason to celebrate–and that’s the good things we do for each other.

Introducing the “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program*. It’s how we want to inspire one million people just like you to volunteer a day of service to a participating organization in your community. In turn, we’ll celebrate your efforts by giving you a free one-day admission to Disneyland® Resort! As a Passholder, you may choose from one of the following three options instead of receiving the 1-day, 1-Park ticket:

  • Disney Special FASTPASS® cards for certain attractions for you and up to five additional members of your party†
  • A collectible Ear Hat figurine with exclusive trading pins‡
  • Donate your free ticket to a non-profit organization designated by Disney Parks.

In the next few months, you’re going to be hearing more about all the ways you can help. Whether it’s helping out with animals or environmental programs, mentoring a child, or building a home for someone who doesn’t have one, start thinking about what kind of volunteering you’d like to do in your area. Selena’s First Concert

Posted on: Sunday, October 11th, 2009 in: Selena Gomez

Back on September 26th, Selena had her first ever concert at the Roxy Theatere in Hollywood. The Roxy, if you recall, is where I saw Demi preform last year.

Anyway, Selena’s concert was a private show, and I was working that day anyway, so I couldn’t go anyway.

However, I was still able to find some great pics from the show.

Pretty hot, right? ;)

And she seems to have a thing for the short shorts. :D

My Emily Osment Concert (Part 3)

Posted on: Saturday, October 10th, 2009 in: Emily Osment

If you’ll allow me a moment before I get to Emily, I just wanted to let you all know that I’ve been pretty sick this past week, which is why there haven’t been any updates. I’m still not all the way better, but I should start posting updates on a regular basis again. :)

I wanted to post a couple pictures of Emily Osment from the night I saw her preform. I didn’t take these, but they where given to me by one of the commentators on my Emily concert videos. :)

Emily Osment Concert Signing

Emily Osment Concert Signing Closeup

She waited in line two hours to meet Emily, and didn’t even get to see her preform because she was in line to meet her instead! No wonder the line was so long after the concert!

There are some great videos of Emily preforming in San Francisco the week before my show on wateverILUVU’s YouTube.

I also wanted to re-post this message directly from Emily in advance of her upcoming EP release.

These past few weeks have been more than incredible. With my EP “All The Right Wrongs” coming out in 19 days, it really feels like things are heating up. I have been lucky enough to play some shows for you guys recently, and I can’t wait to see you all on the 17th at the House of Blues in Hollywood!

Besides traveling around with my awesome band in a silver bus, I have been keeping myself busy with school, SATs, and just life in general. Any day where I can drive around with Paramore’s “Brand New Eyes” screaming in the background is a solid good day. Either that or my best friend Michelle rapping along with Jaydiohead…hmmm…

Things I am looking forward to: treating myself to a new gee-tar, using my new gee-tar in the best way I know how (live shows!), and enjoying the upcoming holidays with my friends and family.

According to my Twitter replies, some of you want to know if the songs I play live I actually wrote. Yes. I co-wrote every song, and for all you curious cats out there, here’s some information on the track listing:

1. “All The Way Up”: Music and lyrics by Emily Osment, Max Collins and Tony Fagenson
2. “Average Girl”: Music and lyrics by Emily Osment and Tom Higgenson
3.“Found Out About You”: Music and lyrics by Emily Osment and Matthew Bair
4. “I Hate The Homecoming Queen”: Music and lyrics by Emily Osment, Max Collins and Tony Fagenson
5. “You Are The Only One”: Music and Lyrics by Emily Osment, Max Collins and Tony Fagenson
6. “What About Me”: Music and lyrics by Emily Osment and Matthew Bair

I am predicting this next month to be one filled with lots of music, and I want all of you to be right there with me! See you on the upside.

-E

I think it’s pretty awesome that Emily’s gonna be playing at the House of Blues in Hollywood. I’ve only been to the ones in Anaheim and San Diego, but it’s a great venue for any aspiring artist to play.

As as I’ve said before, this girl really can sing. It’s very rare that I’m impressed by a concert performance of songs I haven’t heard before, but Emily impressed me all the same. :)

Selena Gomez’s CD Signing in Costa Mesa

Posted on: Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 in: Selena Gomez, Twitter Fun, Webmaster Greg

Today (10/03/09) Selena Gomez had a CD signing at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA to promote her new album, “Kiss and Tell.”

I got there four hours early, shortly before 9AM And there was already an epic line!

Selena Gomez CD Signing in Costa Mesa

In the photo above, the line stretches all the way to the building, across to the right, and into the Mall!

They gave wrist bands to each group, and I was in the 400th – 500th group. By noon, the officials where estimating the line to be at least 200 people!

Selena Gomez CD Signing in Costa Mesa

She was scheduled to sign for three hours, and I finally got up to her two hours after she started signing. (Six hours total wait.)

Selena Gomez CD Signing in Costa Mesa

I wasn’t allowed to take a picture with her, but I do have some great shots from close up! (Click any of the photos to see the whole set)

She hugged this one little girl, and lifted her clear off the ground!

Selena Gomez CD Signing in Costa Mesa

The thing I love most about Selena is that she really, honestly, cares about her fans.

She wrote on her twitter: “After 5 hrs and 4,722 signed copies of the cd I got 50 handmade bracelets. This just proves I have the best fans!”

And she posted this picture:

Selena Gomez's CD Signing in Costa Mesa

All I gave her was a card letting her know about Save Disney Shows and My Selena Gomez Fansite.

I’ve done a lot of amazing things, many of them just in the past month, but actually meeting Selena tops them all. I’m not sure if I remembered to breathe. My heart was racing for at least an hour after wards. I’d have loved to have a picture with her, but it’s more important that her other fans got the chance to meet her. And I’m sure even with the extra two hours that she couldn’t get to everyone.

Selena Gomez Signed CD

If you see this Selena, I want to thank you on behalf of all your fans. It was a long and at times frustrating ordeal, but it was totally worth it. :)
