Some industry insiders are beginning to wonder whether Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair shoot might have been a well-orchestrated blessing in disguise for the “Hannah Montana” star and her career.
“I challenge you to show me a child star who really made the transition to adulthood smoothly,” says one source. “Miley doesn’t have plans to leave showbiz any time soon, and to get that big ‘grown-up’ part, she needs to start looking like a grownup. That shoot helped.”
So what’s up next? Cyrus is rumored to be interested in the lead role in “Undiscovered Gyrl,” the film version of Allison Burnett’s new novel. It’s still early for casting — Burnett’s agent Richard Abate has reportedly just begun shopping the manuscript to publishers and has yet to secure a deal for the film.
However, a source close to the project says Cyrus is interested in the part, which would be that of “a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity.” The source says if Cyrus did take the part, you’d be seeing a lot more of Cyrus than what appeared in the Vanity Fair photos. “There would definitely be nude scenes,” says the source.
Cyrus’ camp had no comment.
Besides the obvious, “OMG! She’s on the Disney Channel she can’t do that!” there’s also the fact that she’s 15. Last time I checked, she’d need to be 18 for such a role. But I could be wrong, and I suppose there could be “artistic” exceptions.
Although I must admit that the role of “a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity” does scream Miley…

Miley’s New album is out now! $9.97 from Amazon and $9.99 from iTunes.

And here’s a cool photo I took of a gigantic Miley banner hanging on the side of one of the studios on the Disney lot in Burbank, last friday.

Disney learned Sunday that its High School Musical brand has limits to its success. Only 4 million viewers tuned in to High School Musical: Get in the Picture , a talent competition that aired on Disney’s ABC. The show placed dead last among the key demographic group of adults 18-49. Last year 17.24 million viewers tuned in to the Disney Channel for the debut of High School Musical 2 . ABC was apparently so confident of big numbers for Sunday night’s show that it scheduled a repeat for [Monday].
I watched the first half before I switched back to DC to watch the new Wizards episode. And I won’t be watching any more of “Get in the Picture” – that’s for sure!

This looks really cool! Source: Muppet News Flash
The Muppets have teamed up with the Disney Channel stars for an all-new variety show special. “Studio DC: Almost Live!”, originally slated for a July premiere, has since been rescheduled and is now set to make its bit debut on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 8:00pm ET/PT (check your local listings for details). The half-hour variety show will feature special appearances by Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Dylan & Cole Sprouse, Jonas Brothers, and (of course) the Muppets. The special will feature singing and dancing, comedy sketches and the backstage antics of the original Disney Channel variety show.
Highlights of the program include Miley Cyrus performing her hit song “GNO” with the help of the Electic Mayhem; Kermit the Frog and Ashley Tisdale performing “Bop to the Top” (from High School Musical); Miss Piggy’s failing attempts to join Nick, Joe and Kevin for a musical number (posing as a long-lost Jonas Sister); Kermit and Gonzo join the cast of “The Suite Life” for a comedic skit; plus much more.
You won’t want to miss this all-new musical extravaganza, as a second “Studio DC” special featuring the Muppets is already planned to air on Disney Channel sometime fall. So be sure to re-mark your calendars, and prepare for this brand-new Muppet show.

Disney Channel will spin The Suite Life of Zack & Cody to sea this fall.
The Suite Life on Deck is slated to bow Friday Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), with stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Phill Lewis in tow. They will be joined by 15-year-old actress Debby Ryan, who will also be featured in a series of video blogs on the network, starting Aug. 29.
The new series finds Zack (Dylan Sprouse) and Cody (Cole Sprouse) aboard the SS Tipton, a luxury passenger cruise liner owned by London’s (Song) father. The ship cruises the world with tourists and students who attend classes at Seven Seas High, the one high school that London’s dad thinks will make his daughter a better student. Despite being out to sea, Zack and Cody still have their compass pointed toward mischief, and London learns to live a “fabu-less” lifestyle, including sharing a small room with Bailey (Ryan), a country girl from Kansas. Lewis’ Mr. Moseby is also on board.
This is either going to be awesome, or terrible. TSL season three had undoubtedly some of the best scripts of the series, and of any of DC’s currently running series. If they continue that in this spin off it has serious potential.

A blast from the past: I recently found a hi-res version of Vanessa’s Music Video for “Come Back to Me” and made a new batch of screencaps of it.

The Demi concert videos are up!
My camera takes ridiculously high quality videos (20MB per minute) which makes YouTube uploads take forever – especially when there are eight videos!
Demi Lovato Concert Videos
I only recorded her new songs, because I’m sure anyone who cares to can find footage of “This is me.” And I used the “old” songs to take still photos.
I’m going to try screencapping my original video files over the next couple days. If I can get some good pics, I’ll add them to the existing gallery and announce it here.
Edit: Also check out the vids Olivia posted in her comment on this post!
