Okay, what happened to Ashley?Not only does she look most definitely not happy, she looks rather trashed. Whatever happened to good girl “I don’t go partying” Ashley? I want that girl back, not this one.
Demi Lovato won’t be on the cast of As the Bell Rings for season two, most likely because she’s starring in Sonny With a Chance. Her character, Charlotte, will be replaced by new girl Lexi played by Lindsey Black.

The second season of the popular sitcom shorts, “As The Bell Rings,” a comedy that follows six friends – Danny, Tiffany, ToeJam, Brooke, Skipper and newcomer Lexi – and their exchanges, antics and occasional tween drama in the school hallway during classroom breaks, will premiere SATURDAY, JULY 5 (7:55 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. Each new episode will be rebroadcast throughout the week.
Starring are Tony Oller as Danny, Lindsey Black as Lexi, Seth Ginsberg as ToeJam, Gabriella Rodriguez as Brooke, Collin Cole as Skipper and Carlson Young as Tiffany. The series was filmed at Del Valle High School in Del Valle (Austin), Texas, and will feature three original songs performed by Tony Oller throughout the season.
The shorts are based on Disney Channel Italy’s hugely popular short-form series, “Quelli dell’Intervallo.” Disney Channel Italy’s series has inspired locally-produced adaptations in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, China, Japan, Singapore and Australia.

Hollywood scandals work, but not for kid stars. A semi-nude Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) in Vanity Fair could be the cause of an additional slide in ratings for the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana.
According to the Nielsen Company, the brand new episode of Hannah Montana which aired after the photos were released saw a 14% decline in viewers when compared to the previous fresh episode. However, longterm figures suggest that Hannah Montana ratings were declining prior to the nude pics – numbers are down 26% compared with the first original show of the year, which aired in January.
One issue is that once a show gets hot, programmers are stuck with a limited number of original episodes and must spread them over a long period. This means that as the time for new content increases, tweens fill their time with new shows.
And this is exactly what has happened.
Hannah Montana has now been replaced as Disney’s top-rated show by Wizards of Waverly Place, which stars Selena Gomez who has previously appeared on Hannah, reports the New York Daily News.
The ratings decline has not effected merchandise or retail partners. Wal-Mart has created areas just for “Hannah” items and production has just began on the “Hannah Montana” feature film.
“‘Hannah Montana’ kicked off as the highest-rated cable premiere series ever among kids and tweens, held the No. 1 rank across all TV, second only to ‘American Idol’ [in that age group] for two years, and is now a global hit,” said Gary Marsh, president, entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide.

The parents of Hannah Montana fans might want to keep in mind Demi Lovato as the name of the next teen queen.
The Disney Channel has cast the 15-year-old singer-actress as the star of its new live-action comedy series “Welcome to Mollywood.”
“Our success is completely driven by the talent we partner with — in front of and behind the camera,” said Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide. “The entire ‘Mollywood’ creative team is the best in the business when it comes to creating break-out kid and family comedy. And Demi Lovato — actress, singer and songwriter — is without a doubt the next big talent to emerge from Disney Channel.”
“Welcome to Mollywood,” the sitcom’s working title, centers on 15-year-old Molly (Lovato), a Midwestern girl who wins a nationwide search to move to Los Angeles and join the cast of the most popular teen sketch comedy show on TV. The series will feature a show-within-a-show, with fully produced comedy sketches.
Tiffany Thornton, Tawni Hart, Brandon Mychal Smith, Doug Brochu and Allisyn Ashley Arm will co-star.
Production will begin in September for a premiere during the 2008-’09 season.
Lovato first gained fame in the short form comedy series “As the Bell Rings” on the Disney Channel. She next stars in two Disney Channel Original Movies: “Camp Rock” with the Jonas Brothers, premiering June 20, and the upcoming “Princess Protection Program” with pal Selena Gomez. Lovato also landed a solo recording contract with Disney’s Hollywood Records and will perform this summer on the Jonas Brothers “Burning Up” concert tour.
Honestly, I think there might be some potential here, but it will really depend on the quality of the writing and the chemistry of the cast.
